No paint. Just metal.

The blue patina moon phase by Ludwig Oechslin owes its distinctive colours to a controlled chemical oxidation process. Shades of blue, blue-black and grey emerge directly from the metal surface, without any additional coating.

This technique has been part of ochs und junior’s history since 2006, when Ludwig Oechslin first used it to create contrast on the dials of the original prototypes.

To this day, every patinated watch is individually treated by hand, assembled and regulated by our watchmaker in our atelier in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Holiday Edition 2026 — perpetual calendar

As our 20th anniversary draws to a close, we turn to one of Ludwig Oechslin’s defining achievements: the perpetual calendar. A complication of extraordinary complexity, reimagined through radical simplicity.
Its ingenious gear system uses just nine additional and three modified components to account for varying month lengths and leap years. Every calendar function can be adjusted via the crown, forwards and backwards.

For this edition, an anthracite-black, finely sandblasted dial meets a distinctive circular finish, creating a subtle interplay of light and texture.
A Grade 5 titanium case houses the UN-118 manufacture movement by Ulysse Nardin.

The anthracite-black dial contrasts fine sandblasting with circular graining, creating subtle reflections and captivating depth. A Grade 5 titanium case, anthracite-black PVD-coated calendar displays and delicate white gold accents complete its understated aesthetic.

Available in two sizes, 39 mm and 42 mm, Oechslin’s annual calendar combines timeless proportions with remarkable mechanical ingenuity.
These images show the 39 mm model on a 165 mm wrist.

What makes Oechslin’s annual calendar special is its remarkable simplicity. Instead of a complex system of levers and springs, its calendar function is driven by a gear train built around just five specially designed components.

The result? A mechanical calendar reduced to its very essence.

The eclittica
The eclittica is an astronomical table clock that brings together many of the subjects Ludwig has been exploring for decades: time, astronomy and the history of watchmaking.
This connection is reflected in the indications of the eclittica. In addition to hours and minutes, it displays the starry sky visible above the horizon, sunrise and sunset, moonrise and moonset, solar and lunar eclipses, the seasons, and the phases of the moon.
The eclittica has now reached a stage where we expect to begin the first production run in the foreseeable future.
For this reason, we are taking a different approach to ordering the clock. Production slots for the first run of the eclittica will be allocated by reservation. This allows us to plan production in advance while securing a place in the upcoming production run for customers who have already expressed a concrete interest.
The first deliveries are planned for 2027.
