Leica? Making watches? Yes… and the German brand isn’t doing this just for the fun of it.
The silver dial of the 39 mm ZM12 is all about subtle details. Its layered construction creates depth, while the changing light brings out the different brushed and textured surfaces. The bracelet deserves a mention too. It’s beautifully executed and gives the watch a modern character without trying too hard.
The red pusher, inspired by the lens-exchange pusher on the M6, releases the bracelet, allowing you to swap it for a rubber strap. Presto! You have a sportier look.
The automatic movement was developed with Swiss movement specialist Chronode and offers a 60-hour power reserve. On top of that, the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres

The 40.5 mm BVLGARI Official Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter was — IMHO — the winner of this year’s GWD.
The multilayered construction, created by the mechanical complications, makes for a fascinating case. The watch not only looks good; it also offers several “aha” moments, with its circular-brushed upper section and satin-polished bezels, as well as an obvious nod to Halter’s illustrious Antiqua from the 1990s.
I have yet to finally decide whether I prefer the 30 pieces limited titanium or 15 pieces limited rose gold version, as both offer such oooompf and wrist presence. Which one do you prefer?

The newly released A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split has been in a league of its own since its introduction in 2018. And looking at this latest edition, I’m not sure anyone is about to challenge it.
Powered by the manually wound cal. L132.1, the 43.2 mm Triple Split is now presented in 950 platinum, with a rhodium-coloured dial and darker grey sub-dials. This impressive timepiece can measure intermediate and comparative times across three time scales, with an aggregate duration of up to twelve hours — all while offering a flyback function. You still with me?!
No matter the complication, dial is wonderfully balanced, considering what’s going on underneath. Also, it is limited to only 100 pieces.

The Montres Breguet Marine Tourbillon Équation Marchante 5887 is a spectacular blend of a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon, and pure watchmaking art. Its most extraordinary complication features two central minute hands to track both civil time and true solar time simultaneously. That golden sun hand indicates true solar time, mechanically calculated by a hidden, kidney-shaped cam inside.

The 42 mm De Bethune DB25 Digitale in polished Grade 5 titanium is a sight for sore eyes. The dial is a celestial canvas of heat-blued titanium, carved with an irregular, undulating “random” guilloché wave pattern that captures the fluid motion of the cosmos - if I may say so. It woke up my inner poet this one…

Looking at these pictures of my Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto, I feel like I’m wearing a Canadian tuxedo on speed. Triple denim, if you like. Anyhoo, the dial certainly pairs well with the attire you can see me wearing during GWD. See you walking the streets…

Something is so wrong here! One year ago, I tried these watches on my wrist during Geneva Watch Days , promising myself I’d make enough money to buy at least one of them. Alas, that never happened. Kicking myself here.Can I blame an addiction to something that costs a lot of money? Or at least claim that all the Tom, Dicks & Harrys of Silicon Valley bought all the cool indie watches? Man, I feel so poor in so many ways…

Favre Leuba. A forgotten pioneer? Hardly. The Favre family’s watchmaking story dates back to 1718, and the brand has been pushing the boundaries of watchmaking for centuries. From the Bivouac in 1962 — the world’s first mechanical wristwatch with an integrated aneroid barometer — to the Bathy and its mechanical depth gauge, helped define the modern tool watch.
After years away from the spotlight, the brand returned in 2024, bringing back icons such as the Chief, Deep Raider and Sea Sky, followed by its first tourbillon in 2025, developed in collaboration with Jean-François Mojon of Chronode. So, yeah. Favre Leuba is back…have you noticed?

The illustrious A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus in white gold is getting a lot of wrist time these days. This German eye candy is a pleasure to wear on the rubber strap, but I am considering having a dark blue calfskin strap made for it.
