I would like to share my short intro speech on occasion of the screening of the Swiss première of the documentary "The Quest for the Perfect Algorithm" at TSK in Bern.
"Good evening everyone,
First of all, thank you all for being here tonight. It is wonderful to see so many people who share a passion for diving, watches, and the stories behind them.
A special thank you to TSK and the entire team for hosting this evening and for their support of independent watchmaking and the diving community.
I would also like to thank Thomas Bühlmann for joining us tonight. Thomas not only carries the family name, but also the responsibility and passion of preserving and sharing the extraordinary legacy of his father, Professor Albert A. Bühlmann.
When we started Bühlmann Watches, we quickly realized that we were not simply creating another dive watch. Behind the name was a story that deserved to be told.
Professor Bühlmann's work changed diving forever. Millions of divers around the world, often without knowing it, rely on principles that originated from his research. Yet outside the diving world, very few people know the man behind the algorithms.
That is why we made this documentary.
Not to look back with nostalgia, but to preserve a remarkable Swiss scientific legacy and to share the values behind it: curiosity, precision, humility, and the relentless pursuit of truth.
And the watch itself follows the same philosophy.
We did not create it to compete with dive computers. We created it as a tribute to this legacy and as a mechanical expression of decompression science, something that allows enthusiasts and divers alike to carry a piece of that history on their wrist.
Tonight is therefore not really about a watch.
It is about a man, a family, a scientific achievement, and a passion that continues to inspire us.
Thank you again for joining us, and I hope you enjoy the film".
