Showsh Designs is handmade, contemporary fine jewellery created by Shoshana Farber. She is the sole designer and producer of her work, which is made in a private independent studio in Toronto, Canada. Shoshana has spent almost two decades as a goldsmith, having completed her jewellery design education at Kootenay School of the Arts in British Columbia and the Revere Academy in San Francisco. ana's studios are intentionally low-tech and located in Toronto (Home) & Minden (Away). Her jewellery has been awarded by Craft Ontario and is sold in shows and galleries nationwide. Shoshana works with precious metals and gemstones, and her collections range from limited production lines to one-of-a-kind pieces.

Views for days from my friend Yo’s house perched cliffside above the harbour, looking out on Signal Hill, The Battery, and downtown St. John’s. There’s a reason why my Newfoundland necklace continues to be a best-seller this season. It’s iconic, like the place itself. Newfoundland is just its own vibe - majestic, grounded, welcoming, resilient. There’s nothing like it.

Today’s jewellery orders have departed the studio! I know it’s easy to get distracted by corporate shenanigans this time of year, but if you are in the market for thoughtful, unique, handmade 🇨🇦 work - don’t wait too much longer to get your orders in. I’m using couriers wherever possible, and CP tracked package to rural destinations where courier delivery is prohibitive. It’s all flat rate and free over $100!

I’m back! It’s been a minute. My studio is re-built. It took longer than I wanted, but it’s bright and cozy and my equipment is all mounted and functional and it will serve me well. Bring on the holidays! I wanna make your loved ones some sentimental gifts.

This was the 6th incarnation of my studio. Almost 6 years in this wonderful space. It served me so well.

I’m not a big fan of change, but I’m doing it. My new studio (still here in Toronto) will be up and running by early October, just in time for the holiday ramp up. In the meantime, my online shop is stocked and still open for orders.

I’m reaching towards a more integrated vision of Home and Away. I’ve always dreamed of a studio with big windows that face the water. But first - a transitional phase. Slow steps towards a big goal. One piece at a time.

Big changes for me on the horizon… a studio move, a house move. My days are spent poring through listings and unknowns and opportunities. I’m trying to imagine life in a million neighbourhoods and towns and trying to visualize how it will all come into balance. Do I stick to what’s familiar or see what new areas have to offer?

In the meantime, I’m still making pretty jewellery. This combo looks kind of nice, actually.

A year after my Dad died, Ryan and I took a trip out to PEI. I inherited his vast camera collection and these pics were my first attempt at using his various lenses in the field - at times I felt like I was channeling him, in an awkward crouch, fumbling through his camera bag, tucking my glasses atop my head to squint through the viewfinder. I don’t switch out the lenses too much anymore, but I still use his camera and lighting rig to photograph my jewellery, on the regular.

Pretty, picturesque Regina - with Wascana Creek meandering through urban nature preserves, to the lake in the city centre (look for the squiggle in the bottom right quadrant of the pendant!)

I had the opportunity to visit back in 2003, stopping in to see my art school buddy where she gave me a real hometown welcome. If you are in the area, look her up - she does cool work with local heritage materials, amongst other wonderful things.

Second slide is the Regina pendant in 10k yellow gold (any of my locations can be commissioned in solid gold).
