Why “Unchained Heart”?
My name is Breanne, and I’m the owner and creator at Unchained Heart Chainmaille.
I’ve been doing chainmaille, off and on, since I was about 12. I started out with a roll of hardware store copper wire, some wire cutters, a (single!) pair of pliers, and a library book. I made my own rings by wrapping the wire slowly and painstakingly around the inside of a pen, and cutting each ring, one at a time. Just for laughs - some of my earlier pieces:
Since then, I’ve done a lot of jewellery making, in various forms. Lots of beads, lots of metal, some clay, and whatever else I could get my hands on.
After my son was born in 2017, I started doing chainmaille again. My son was born with a congenital heart defect, and needed to have open heart surgery immediately after he was born. Thankfully, the surgery was successful and lifesaving, and he is alive today. He has had a second open heart surgery since then, and that one also went well.
