Paid our precious metal dealer license this week... never-mind the insane cost (was less than $100 when I started), the city REALLY needs to work on their contracted terms for banking statements 😝

So here's the new entry protocol!

Ring the bell, wait for the buzzer/green light and push the door open!

Simple!! But do ring the bell and do wait for us to buzz you in... we've watched many people not read/see the RING THE BELL sign and simply walk away thinking we're closed.

Of course all this only works if we're actually open ;-)

Due to an armed robbery today at another shop on Corydon (no one was hurt thankfully) we are moving to a locked door, we'll let you in policy. We'll have a more advanced buzzer and electronic lock system installed as soon as possible.

It's not something we want to do but unfortunately it's something we need to do to maximize our safety.

We apologize for the inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause. There may be a minor wait while we free ourselves up to come to the door.

When you're the second generation owner you inherit clients and often don't know their names/vocations/lives but treat them like valued people because you just know they're special.

Few clients were more worthy of that unqualified respect than Bob Burgess

I've known and valued him as a human and a client for years but sadly never really knew much about him.

I read the news about his passing months ago but didn't connect the dots until today.

Bob, aka Gloria Booths, was a gem of a human that always lit up the shop when he came in.

I have been literally holding a special piece I acquired for him to see for months... it will be on permanent display but never for sale in his honour.

To Brent and his family please know that Bob touched so many lives... mine included.

I'll miss you Bob... rest in peace & power.

You've been asking for east-west engagement rings so we made one :-)

We repurposed a diamond from a lacklustre setting into a brand new 14k yellow gold mount from one of the finest mount makers we've ever known. The diamond itself is a lovely radiant cut, 1.2 carats with a G colour and VS1 clarity. Freshly appraised by a third party gemologist for $14'870 and available for $7'400... half of its retail value!
