Alexandrite’s color change is one of nature’s most intriguing optical phenomena. This gem, which belongs to the chrysoberyl family, is known for its ability to shift from green in white light to red or purplish-red under warm light. This shift occurs because of the presence of trace elements, which interact with light within the crystal lattice of the gemstone affecting how the different spectrums of light are absorbed and reflected.
