One of my favourite things about creating The Sakura Surprise was bringing Japan’s animals into Lila’s adventure.

Along the way, she meets some pretty wonderful guides, including a cicada, fox, koi, flying squirrel, Japanese hare and a graceful red-crowned crane.

Each new friend has something to show her.
