I’ve been thinking about drop shipping a lot lately... and why I chose not to go that route.

I wanted to know what I was sending you. To see it, hold it, inspect it, and make sure it felt right before it ever left my hands. That choice means slower growth and more work behind the scenes, but it also means every piece has passed through a very human checkpoint.

For me, that part matters just as much as the jewellery itself. 💛

Merchant fees aren’t glamorous, but they’re part of running an online shop. This Shopify payout shows the transaction fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per order.

When an order gets refunded, small shops don’t always recover every cost tied to the sale, like processing, packaging, labour, and restocking.

That’s why some shops charge a restocking fee. It helps cover real costs, not create extra profit.

Hot take or fair take? I know restocking fees can feel annoying, so it helps to see what they’re tied to.

I started it because I kept finding stones that stopped me — pieces with a presence you could actually feel — and I couldn't keep that to myself.

Sooo there's been a development with my packaging.

I knew I was running low on my signature baby blue ring boxes, so I placed a restock order at the end of February. Mid-March, I find out the cargo ship carrying them was in an accident. 32 containers lost at sea. We don't know yet if mine were on board — my vendor and shipping agent are working on it.
