It's only November, and we're daydreaming about the summer already! Hopefully everyone had a successful season, and your planes are tucked away nicely for their hibernation.

If any of you have ever wondered what lead buildup looks like inside a spark plug, here it is. It generally accumulates between the metal and ceramic parts below the zappy end.

When enough accumulates, it can affect performance, which is what we experienced prior to having this engine serviced. (As it turned out, 5/6 of the bottom plugs had lead buildup.)
Idle was choppy, and advancing the throttle resulted in a lot of lagging before the rpm picked up.

50 and 100 hour inspections are important to keep your engine running smoothly. When you need power, you'll appreciate the time you took to get your plane inspected.

Spot the airstrip!

Our intrepid Pawnee has made it through another annual, and is ready for the 2024 Ag Course. The test flight found all systems okay, even at 6500 feet. (Probably the highest this plane has flown in a while)

Beginning April 2nd, Kiss the Sky Aviation will be going full time at training the next generation of Aerial Applicators.

It is with heavy heart that we recognize the passing of our dearly beloved Aviation Weather Web Site. AWWS was decommissioned February 28th, 2024, and will be sorely missed. It was the flight planning tool for thousands of Canadian pilots during its entire lifetime, and provided the necessary weather products to ensure aviation continued to operate across all categories of operations. Private and commercial pilots alike relied on its regular updates every day of the year.

AWWS has left a legacy never to be forgotten, and very large shoes for its successor, Collaborative Flight Planning Services (CFPS), to fill.

Those of you who wish to express your condolences can like and share this post.

CFPS will continue the arduous journey of providing weather status and updates as we forge ahead into the future of Canadian Aviation. You can find this website here:

RIP AWWS. These words are brief, and will always fail to express the pain and loss the aviation community feels. You are gone, but never forgotten.

As many of you have known, our 172 has been down for extensive maintenance. It started out as fixing leaky tanks, and has evolved into some major engine work as each stage of completion also brought another snag to rectify.

We are sorry to say that the 172 will be offline for the winter. As the problems are slowly solved, we will be reaching average daytime temperatures too low to allow the plane to be flown.

As well, the 150 is in need of an engine overhaul, and will no longer be available to fly until that is taken care of.

There have been many good flight hours put on these machines in the last 2 years. Thankfully, all the major issues have been discovered on the ground. You can all pat yourselves on the back for being thorough with your walkarounds and runups.

The picture, by the way, is what the wing tank cavity looks like. On Cessnas it's just a quick 53 screws per tank lid to remove the cover, unhook a few lines, and away you go with resealing!
