As many of you have known, our 172 has been down for extensive maintenance. It started out as fixing leaky tanks, and has evolved into some major engine work as each stage of completion also brought another snag to rectify.
We are sorry to say that the 172 will be offline for the winter. As the problems are slowly solved, we will be reaching average daytime temperatures too low to allow the plane to be flown.
As well, the 150 is in need of an engine overhaul, and will no longer be available to fly until that is taken care of.
There have been many good flight hours put on these machines in the last 2 years. Thankfully, all the major issues have been discovered on the ground. You can all pat yourselves on the back for being thorough with your walkarounds and runups.
The picture, by the way, is what the wing tank cavity looks like. On Cessnas it's just a quick 53 screws per tank lid to remove the cover, unhook a few lines, and away you go with resealing!
