Sea Urchin Creative

Sea Urchin Creative Repurposed, up-cycled and found objects used to create unique handmade jewelry and crafts in the Edmonton area. Stay tuned!

The goal of Sea Urchin Creative is to reclaim and remake jewelry as much as possible into something new and innovative. Incorporating shells, sea glass and sometimes even sand keeps the founder close to her Maritime roots, as well as cleaning beaches across the world. Many pieces will have their own story, even before our clients can begin a journey with them. In addition to jewelry, the applicati

on of these same principles are evident in other forms of expression such as sewing, macrame, crafting, collage etc.

No one has heard from me in some time…

I almost am afraid to say this but Covid with all the deaths, controversies regarding vaccines and masking, people losing their employment, front line workers subject to abuse, etc., etc. I could go on and on and it would be what keeps replaying in my head.
I have been unable to create.
There, I said it!
This is the truth. So many things I used to love to do, gone. Can anyone else relate? Have you had problems with the creative process and how have you overcome it?
One would think with so much more time in my home, my space, my refuge, I would be overly productive. Nope, it isn’t there at all😢

I hope to rectify this situation soon. Not sure how, but you will be the first to know🤨

I do hope you are all staying safe and feeling well.😷🇨🇦

Sea Urchin Creative is all about REpurposing, REusing, REcycling, UPcycling and improving. Various handmade items are created using vintage and found objects.
Repurposing our seed and feed bags and making them into outdoor cushion covers by recycling vintage cushions found at our local Thrift Store have given these bags new life.
They give a 'fun vibe' to the vintage church pews we are upcycling by using them as outdoor seating for our guests.

Hello? Does anyone remember me?
I have been on a hiatus for almost 18 months. With the exception of sewing 300 masks last year I did little to no creating and that does not make a ‘happy soul’.
It is time to start up again. I will be posting weekly soon.
What do you suppose I am going to do with all my seed and feed bags?

Kudos to the Arts Association Devon on their second Sunday of the months Art Shows at the Devon Community Centre from 12 to 4.
With regards to the growing numbers of COVID-19 in the Greater Edmonton Area Sea Urchin Creative has decided to not show this Sunday, October 11, 2020. I hope to be back before Christmas. Please feel free to contact me with any gift suggestions or requests at [email protected] OR on Facebook. Hope to see you soon! Stay safe, stay healthy 😊😷🇨🇦

Hi Folks!
I am no longer making masks, not because they are not important, but seriously you can buy a mask EVERYWHERE. (So, why are people still not wearing them?)
Very soon I will be back to Sea Glass creations and I be sure to post when I have something to show you. Stay tuned!

When I wear a mask in public:

🔵 I want you to know that I am educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus.
🔵 No, I don’t “live in fear” of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem.
🔵 I don’t feel like the “government is controlling me;” I feel like I’m being a contributing adult to society and I want to teach others the same.
🔵 The world doesn’t revolve around me. It’s not all about me and my comfort.
🔵 If we all could live with other people's consideration in mind, this whole world would be a much better place.
🔵 Wearing a mask doesn’t make me weak, scared, stupid, or even “controlled.” It makes me considerate.
🔵 When you think about how you look, how uncomfortable it is, or what others think of you, just imagine someone close to you - a child, a father, a mother, grandparent, aunt, or uncle - gasping for breath, choking on a respirator alone without you or any family member allowed at their bedside.
🔵 Ask yourself if you could have at least done it for them.

Copied and posted. Can you do the same?
