We’re currently working on the spring collection for our Iconic Betty Polish Line. So today along with our current mood board we’re sharing a little more about the woman that inspired the brand from the perspective of our regional director Darcie.
“Betty was our resident grandma energy.
Every Thursday at 1pm, one of the estheticians at JFY in Regina had privilege to have a chat with Betty, catch up on all the family stories and give her a manicure. Betty had beautiful nails, long, straight a pleasure to paint. The therapist always had a choice in the colour and nail art for Betty. Sparkly purple & polka dots were her favourite!
Betty was always dressed just so, and I loved to see what jewelry she would have on for the day. She was a generous soul, the last Christmas she was with us, she gifted me a snowman brooch that I still treasure. (I was wearing this as I wrote this).
Each time you come into JFY Regina for a service, we fill out a line on your profile. Betty’s profile is by far our largest at 16 pages! When asked once, should we start a new form– “No – we need to keep it” so we simply added to it. From the time the JFY Regina location opened, to Betty’s last visit, 18 of us were able to treat her to a little relaxation & experience her kindness.
When she came in, we had a pair of shoes that she left here to wear (we still have them, sparkly ballet flats). Always a glass of water, or on those cold days a hot chocolate, with a little extra creamer. Durning the polish part of the manicure, she would always turn away, she wanted to be surprised! Betty was always so kind and thankful for whatever design we would come up with. Sparkles or shimmer was a must!! Had to have a little bit of bling!
Once the manicure was complete, we would es**rt her to the quiet lounge, where her favorite spot was waiting. We tucked her in with a blankie and got her current book out of her bag. She would sit for a least an hour waiting for her nails to dry. Each team member that walked by would take a minute or two to chat and check in with Grandma Betty!
Betty watches over us, as her photo hangs in the Regina retail space. Thurs at 1pm will always be Betty’s time!”
