This project has been incredibly humbling.
Having the honour to create pieces for a custom graduation stole was a constant learning experience. Drawing out the design with images of sentimental meaning for its intended owner might have been my favourite and easiest part. Working with velvet for the first time I got advice from many, but none as helpful as the magical Big Bear Moccasins … I only wish I had asked them from the beginning. With the size of the pieces and the delicate nature of the material, I ran into many unexpected bumps and challenges. With more than 100hrs, it was made with much love and intention. I’m super excited to see it completed. It was truly an honour to be asked to be a part of this process and I’m grateful for the opportunity & trust.
So with that being sent on its way….
I guess it’s time to start making poppies?!? 🤪
