About the Facilitator
Jody Henderson was born in Prince Albert on Treaty 4 Territory and raised in Moose Jaw, with roots in James Smith Cree Nation. As a Sixties Scoop survivor, much of her early life was spent away from her culture.
About five years ago, she began a meaningful journey reconnecting with her Cree identity, culture and heritage. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jody joined a First Nations womenβs healing circle where she learned beadwork. What began as learning a new skill became something deeper; a way to connect with culture, community and healing.
Today, Jody works as a Registered Massage Therapist and Esthetician, and is also a proud Kokum to two grandsons. Together they spend time learning about their culture, travelling to powwows and creating new memories while reconnecting with traditions that continue to guide their path.
