Why shop local?

Because the places we love don’t stay that way by accident. In uncertain economic times, choosing local is one way we can support the people and businesses that make our community what it is.

Every coffee, gift, meal or everyday purchase helps support local jobs, keep our storefronts vibrant and contribute to the businesses that give Downtown Perth its character.

And it doesn’t have to mean spending more. Sometimes it’s simply choosing a local shop before ordering online, or picking up something you already need while you’re downtown.

When we support local businesses, we help keep the places we love here for the next time we need them. Keep the places that make Perth, Perth.

An extra day off means an extra day to savour summer in Downtown Perth! Whether you’re stopping in for a coffee, enjoying a patio, doing a little shopping or simply taking a stroll through downtown, lots of our local businesses are open today and ready to welcome you.

We’ve shared some of the businesses we know are open, but this is not an exhaustive list! Others may be open too, so be sure to check their social media or give them a call before making a special trip.

Congratulations to Alison and Unraveled on 9 years in business!

For nine years, Unraveled has been a place where beautiful yarn, creativity and community come together in downtown Perth. From luxurious natural fibres and hand-dyed yarns from local artists to helpful advice, social gatherings and plenty of inspiration, Alison has created a space where knitters and crocheters of all experience levels feel right at home.

And this year marks an exciting new chapter, with Unraveled recently moving to a new location at 34 Gore St. E.!

Whether you’re an experienced maker, picking up your needles or hook for the first time, or simply looking for some creative inspiration, stop in and see Alison at her new home.

Congratulations, Alison, on nine wonderful years of Unraveled — and here’s to many more years of creativity, community and beautiful things made by hand!
