30,000 Facebook followers! 🥳🪙🇨🇦

When I started The Canadian Coin Broker, I just wanted to share a hobby I genuinely love. I never expected this little coin community to grow into what it has become.

Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or just followed this week, thank you for watching, commenting, sharing, correcting me when I’m wrong, and showing up for the giveaways and live draws.

30,000 is a huge milestone, but we’re just getting started.

It started as a hobby… ❤️🍁

🪙🚨 Check your 1947 Canadian quarters — one tiny DOT can make a HUGE difference!

The regular 1947 quarter is already a nice 80% silver Canadian coin, but there’s a much scarcer 1947 Dot variety to look for. 👀

💰 Regular 1947 values:
VF-20 ➜ $13.50
EF-40 ➜ $18
AU-50 ➜ $36.40
MS-60 ➜ $57.40
MS-64 ➜ $224
MS-65 ➜ $946

🔥 1947 DOT values:
VF-20 ➜ $150
EF-40 ➜ $282
AU-50 ➜ $397
MS-60 ➜ $653
MS-63 ➜ $1,330
MS-64 ➜ $2,210
🤯 MS-65 ➜ $4,590

Same year. Same 25¢ denomination. One little variety — thousands of dollars difference in high grade.

🪙🪥 COIN CLEANING EXPERIMENT #3… TOOTHPASTE?! 😳

First we tried acetone. Then a Magic Eraser.

This time, I’m testing one of the most common suggestions in the comments:

TOOTHPASTE. 😂

Sure, it might make the silver look cleaner… but what does it actually do to the surface?

🔬 Before
🪥 Toothpaste test
🔬 After — under the microscope

Did we remove the milk spots… or just scratch up another Silver Maple? 👀

⚠️ Bullion experiment only — I would NOT do this to a collectible/numismatic coin.

👇 What should we try for Part 4?

🪙😳 Acetone FAILED… so I tried something coin collectors are going to hate.

A Magic Eraser. 😬

It might remove the milk spot… but it’s also abrasive. So what happens to the coin’s surface?

🔬 Before vs. After — under the microscope.

Did we clean it… or damage it? 👀

⚠️ Bullion experiment only. I would NOT do this to a collectible coin.

👇 What should I test next?

09/05/2026

You should NEVER clean your coins…

So naturally, I cleaned this one. 😅🪙

I picked up a few Silver Maple Leafs with some pretty ugly milk spots, and since these are bullion coins rather than high-value numismatic pieces, I wanted to see if I could improve the appearance.

Would I do this to a rare collectible coin?

Absolutely not.

But on a spotted bullion Maple, I figured it was worth the experiment.

Now the important question…

Did I make it better, or did I just commit a coin-collecting crime? 😂

What would YOU have done?
