Nature’s most extraordinary colours. ✨

Deep burgundy, rich bronze, glowing gold — with flashes of bluish and pinkish iridescence. These gorgeous freshwater keshi pearls from China have a colour palette that is almost unbelievable. And yes, every shade is natural.

Chinese pearl farmers continue to push the boundaries, producing pearls of ever-increasing beauty and individuality. These are my latest find, and I can’t wait to transform them into a few one-of-a-kind necklaces.

Our traditional dinner at the Faculty Club.

Every month, our Women’s Issues Interest Group gathers around the table for good food, interesting conversation, and a topic that makes us think.

This time, we talked about aging—and, as always, the conversation opened the door to so many related questions: How do we think about getting older? What does aging well mean to each of us? How do our priorities, relationships, appearance, and sense of self change with time?

Yesterday, I visited the opening of the new exhibition by Japanese performance and installation artist Chiharu Shiota at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Her work is extraordinary.

Immersive, delicate, yet powerful — her installations make you stop and think about life, memory, relationships, connections, and the invisible threads that bind us to one another.

There is something deeply sensitive and almost haunting in her work. Perhaps it is also the influence of her Japanese cultural background — a particular awareness of impermanence, beauty and death, the passage of time. And much more.

I found myself thinking about the exhibition long after I left.
