Today is a day to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, their families, and the generations who continue to carry the impacts of those systems.

Truth and reconciliation cannot rest on Indigenous people to carry alone. Today, we simply ask that you take the time to listen, to learn, and to reflect.

We honour those who came before us, those who are still here, and the generations yet to come. 🧡

Grandmother Moon.

Made with beads that once belonged to our great-grandmother, beneath a full moon. Some things just feel full circle.

New Roots marks a new chapter for us as artists, as sisters, and as a collective. It speaks to where we’ve come from, what we’ve outgrown, and what we’re ready to nurture now.

Timed with the launch of our new website and a renewed evolution of our brand, this collection is both a return to our essence and a step toward who we’re becoming.

Each design holds a quiet story: the warmth of memory, the tenderness of something new. Some are subtle, like the first green shoots after winter. Others are bold, like roots breaking through the soil. All are crafted with care and deep intention.

The colour palette is drawn from the land itself—cedar green, glacial blue, sunset ochre, and the golden glow of firelight. Some pieces feel ceremonial. Others are made for everyday grounding. Each one belongs to the same unfolding narrative.

We named it New Roots because that’s what this season feels like. Not a reinvention. Not an uprooting. But a deeper planting. A conscious return to what sustains us, and a gentle commitment to growing—slowly, intentionally, and in right relation.

New Roots Collection 🌱 available tonight, June 19th at 7pm EST

“Since 2021, Alyssa Bardy has been behind the lens of nearly every Commanda Collective shoot. Her eye, her warmth, her way of seeing us—it’s become part of the fabric of our brand.

Something meaningful to name: we’ve never exchanged money for Alyssa’s photography. That was a mutual decision. Instead, we work in reciprocity—exchanging time, energy, beadwork, and shared creative spirit. It’s a small but powerful way we move away from transactional thinking and into something more relational.

This partnership is rooted in trust. In generosity. In care.”
