Sue’s Crystals was the brainchild of my mother, Sue Johnson, who loved gemstones which then developed into a hobby of making gemstone jewellery and it kind of grew from there! I have a small selection of her jewellery on display at C&D Jewellery Limited in Hamilton. She sadly passed away in 2017 but I have decid
ed to resurrect her FB Page and website in her memory as I have followed on in her love for crystals and gemstones. Here are her words for why she did what she did and why she loved it:
"My name is Sue Johnson and I am the person behind Sue’s Crystals. I started making jewellery some years ago as a hobby and due to the demand from family and friends, my hobby has grown from there. I started my working life as an assistant in a pet store and then became a stay at home mum. When my daughter had grown up, I returned to work running a local business but once I retired, I finally found the time to enrol on a jewellery making course. My inspiration came after a trip to India with my daughter when I realised my passion had grown even more after seeing all the vibrant colours and gemstones this magnificent land had to offer. So much so that it spurred me on to put into practice what I had learned on my course. I source my gemstones and crystals from all over the world but in order to keep my prices affordable to all, I use base metal findings, unless stated otherwise, however, I always use .925 sterling silver shepherd hooks for pierced earrings in order to alleviate the possibility of an allergic reaction. The wonderful properties of the gemstones coupled with the touch and feel, make my pieces so easy to wear.
