I sat down the other day to do a collage and not really planning on any one direction to go. I was just looking at the imagery of the woman with the dagger and then finding other pictures that seemed to compliment the initial image I started with. ✂️💚

Close to the end, I stopped and looked and it dawned on me how much it reminds me of the Queen of Swords, a card that I often resonate with deeply in the tarot deck. That’s when I added the final touch - the butterflies - which represent transformation. 🦋🩵

The black and white imagery of the main character, the woman, with the contrast of the saturation of colour around her shows not someone who is “cold”, but instead someone who has moved through her experiences and now is able to see things with a certain level of clarity. She is the observer, the still point within the image. Everything surrounding her is vivid, instinctual, complex, and alive. Meanwhile, she stands unafraid to take up space and looks directly outward. She doesn’t show fear, not because she is untouched by it, but because she has learned that the things that once frightened her are also the things that taught her to be brave. It’s been through her own experiences where she has learned how to distinguish what is real from what is illusion.

It’s pretty amazing what can arise from the subconscious when you allow yourself to create with no real intention or destination in mind for the piece itself.

And, you’re going to have the opportunity to do something like this yourself with me! Next week I’ll be rolling out an announcement and registration for an upcoming workshop in October where we explore The Fool’s Journey through the Major Arcana and get to do a collage exercise where we get to play and tap into our subconscious to see what messages are waiting there for us to bring into our conscious awareness.

Seeing my niece start back to school, and knowing some students will be starting university for the first time, some people may even be starting new jobs, or may even be new to the area. So I came up with a little spread for those who have cards at home, whether they be tarot or oracle, to use whenever they need some guidance when starting a new chapter. 🃏🔮✨

I’m planning a fun creative workshop for October where participants will learn about the Fool’s Journey through the Major Arcana, partake in some reflective exercises with the cards, and then have a chance to create a collage piece reflecting where they are on their own journey inspired by one of Major Arcana cards, combing themes of multiple cards, or creating an entirely new archetype.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Good Karma Wednesday Wellness Days this summer. I appreciated all the wonderful artwork you created which will be on display for the community throughout the fall months at the Cast Away Cafe . A big thank you to cafe and ArtWorks East for teaming up on the program to help make it a success!

The Good Karma Studio will re-open next week for those who would like to shop, create, or book a tarot reading. I also have another creative opportunity I’m working on to play on the Wednesday Wellness Days that took place this summer to utilize some of the supplies left over from this summer to allow you the chance to create and also support our local arts organization, ArtWorks East.
