I’m really, really tired after the Christmas Market today, so I’m just going to show you a few of the cool products I make…

Spilanthes Tincture from spilanthes buttons I grew last year, great for dental pain and as an immune system supporter,

Face and Beard Oil (moisturizer for men, basically), in all their Celtic / Pagan God glory 🤩

Spicy Honey Sweet Thai Chili sauce made with my own honey, had some with samosas tonight and it’s killer!

Natural Wool Dryer Balls made from local wool also purchased from a Millarville Market vendor.

And another product I will have to continue to make for all of time because it’s so awesome and i use it every single day - my Miracle Deodorant - now with the addition of a new variation, Sandalwood and Bergamot, for a little more “masculine” scent (though women are loving it too!)

I must say, my market table is even impressing me - this is some top-notch goodness happening here!

Hope you can make it down to see me at the Christmas Market now through Sunday. If not, I’ll try to get all these added to my website if there are any left after Market season ❤️ Or just contact me and I’ll set some aside 🥰

One of the products I make that I can’t be without is my Wild Rosehip Facial Oil.

We have to wait until after the first frost to gather the rosehips from the hills around our farm. Luckily, we had a glorious fall here in the Foothills, and Ozzy was happy to help me pick on this fine day in late September (I think it was a perfect 21 degrees out 🥰)

Once home, all the little dried flower remnants are pulled off and the fruits are laid on screens to dry for a few weeks so they don’t contain any moisture which could spoil the oil they are added to later.

I use organic coconut MCT oil which is excellent for the skin and is not greasy. The oil with macerated berries is heated only very slightly in the instant pot (at about 100F or 38C) for a couple of days to infuse.

I strain the oil a couple of times through cheesecloth and allow it to settle so the oil becomes really clear. This oil smells a lot like strawberries!

I add just a bit of vitamin E to preserve the oil and then I bottled some as the “Unscented” version. For the remainder, I scent it with pure rose absolute essential oil, making the original formula I have grown to love so dearly ❤️ 🌹

It contains vitamin C and antioxidants and I can attest to the fact that it makes the skin absolutely radiant. I’ve ditched my conventional moisturizer all together and just is a dropper full of this on my face and neck after showering.

I had run completely out of last year’s supply of this oil just as this batch was getting ready to bottle, and since I use it every day, I was sneaking tiny spoonfuls of it out of the instant pot for several mornings before I had a chance to get it into bottles 😜 (I’m that hooked).

I’ve decided I also love the unscented version and so have been switching back and forth - a little slice of heaven in the daily routine 🥰

I made Beeswax Candles! Woot! New skill acquired! Level up!

Beeswax is actually a pretty small yield in beekeeping compared to honey (about 30:1). Knowing this gives me a real appreciation for these lovely candles.

Beeswax candles emit a bright, warm light and burn longer than other types of candles. They also release negative ions as they burn which clean the air by binding with toxins in the atmosphere.

Beeswax burns longer, drips less, and smells wonderful 🥰

One of the most popular products I make is my Rhubarb Lemonade concentrates!

There are many different flavours, all made with real fruit, but one of the perennial favourites is Strawberry! 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓

I was gifted two large harvests of rhubarb this year (Thank you Susan and Larry K and Donna W!) and also harvested a large quantity of my own, and so I was able to make over 250 jars this season!

Other flavours include Pineapple, Grapefruit, Cherry, Saskatoon, Mandarin, Raspberry and this years new (knockout) flavour Guava-Passionfruit!

This is one of my favourite things to take to family dinners or potlucks; I just bring along a bag of ice and a bottle of ginger ale and voila! That’s around 4 Litres of fantastic punch!

The recipe is also used to make Compote and Simple Syrup simply by straining out the solids. The Compote is absolutely lovely on oatmeal, chia pudding, pancakes or the like. The Simple Syrup is great for sweetening mixed drinks or mixing with soda (or Soda Stream) water.

The Lemonades, Simple Syrups and Compotes will all be $10 this year, or you can get a mixed case of 12 for only $100!

I’ll be at the Millarville Christmas Market next weekend, November 10-13, OR contact me now to order in advance and I will set some aside for delivery after November 15.

If you want, I’ll even share the recipe with you because this is a product anyone who has an abundance of rhubarb should try out!

That time we made 163 jars of salsa over two days on a beautiful October weekend 🥰

This is based on the Sunfire Farms Salsa recipe that my parents sold at the Millarville Market two decades ago! Firing the family recipe back up!

So much work and love goes into every jar ❤️

This year we’ve made Mild, Medium, Hot, Chipotle Medium, Chipotle Hot and Habanero! 🌶️🌶️🌶️

$12 per 500ml jar. Available NEXT weekend (November 10-13) at the Millarville Christmas Market. If I have any leftover, I’ll add them to my website (last year we didn’t have any left by the third day).

(Contact me if you’d like me to set some aside and you can’t make the Market ☺️)

Finished the preparation of my Black Drawing Salve this weekend; thought it was appropriate to the day 🎃🧙‍♀️🐈‍⬛

I developed this recipe originally because I had a bunch of gravel embedded in my knee for a couple of years, and it really hurt to kneel.

I researched natural solutions, and this Amish recipe for Black Drawing Salve was perfect, because the base oil recipe was very close to what I already used in my Skin Soothing Salve (olive oil and grapeseed oil infused with Calendula, Comfrey, Lavender, Plantain and Rosehips).

This recipe is the addition of Bentonite Clay and Activated Charcol to that basic recipe. It’s pretty simple, but getting the temperature right so the oil doesn’t separate from the heavy ingredients is key.

You can find this and other magical ⭐️ creations at my booth at the Millarville Christmas Market coming up in only 10 days! (It starts this weekend but I’m only taking part in the second weekend from Nov 10-13). Don’t forget to pre-purchase timed tickets for the Market.

If you can’t make the Market, I have added this to my website. Link in comments. Free delivery for Diamond Valley residents 🧡

… So does it work? Well, I made up the salve and slathered a thick layer on my knee, bandaged it up and went to bed… and in the morning I took off the bandage and there were four pieces of gravel on it! It works like a charm! It’s also great for splinters or other embedded objects, and even ingrown hairs. Perfect for the tradesman or woodsplitter in your family, and just a handy thing to keep in the first-aid kit.

Extraction time! I pulled this year’s first box of honey last weekend. Got my new extraction equipment all set up 🤩. (This time in my kitchen because I didn’t want to face the wasps again by trying to do it outside again this year)

So much fun and so rewarding!
