A well-known member of the Simcoe County community is fighting for his life thousands of kilometres from home.
Ryan Tarsey, who runs a small mechanic business out of Utopia and is known by many across the region, was seriously injured while on vacation in Costa Rica on March 6. After falling from a golf cart at high speed, Ryan suffered a fractured skull and a brain bleed. He is currently intubated and in critical condition at a hospital in San José.
Ryan urgently needs to be transported back to Canada to receive the advanced medical care he requires, and possible brain surgery. Unfortunately, he did not have travel insurance.
Because of the severity of his injuries, Ryan cannot travel on a commercial flight. He must be transported by air ambulance, with costs estimated between $70,000–$100,000 USD (around $94,000+ CAD). Medical transport teams will not move him until proof of funds is secured.
His family has already raised nearly $10,000, but there is still a long way to go.
Ryan has a daughter waiting for him at home, and his family is doing everything they can to bring him back to Canada.
If you are able to help, even a small donation can make a difference.
