The first time I had to follow a pattern for tubular pe**te for a pair of beaded hoops, it was real struggle hehe these ones are easier though, it’s only flat pe**te that you then close.

I love this design, I do think it’s very cool

There will be 30+ local vendors there and me and my mom cannot wait to go and spend time with nice people. It will be my last market with my mom before she heads back home and it does mean a lot for me. She has been great help for me these months, the support I get from her is infinite and I can only be grateful for being lucky enough to have her as my mother ❤️💛

Some of the pieces we will be bringing to our first market of the year at on Feb 7th !!! 🙂

Most of these patterns have been picked by my mom and by my mom had the idea of the little heart necklaces, she likes smaller, dainty pieces sometimes.

Looking forward to uploading all these to our Etsy shop as soon as I make some time for it!

That’s how you assemble and wrap up “tamales tolimenses” or Tolima style Colombian tamales (I think? Do I get my mom’s approval? Hehe).

The Tolima region of Colombia is where my mom comes from. She’s actually born in a town that doesn’t exist anymore: Armero, Tolima. This town was destroyed by the Nevado del Ruiz volcano eruption in 1985, but at the time she was already far from the area, luckily.

Inspired by “Like water for Chocolate” by Laura Esquivel, I want to make sure I learn as much as I can from my mom’s cooking traditions, and maybe keep them recipes in a little notebook (wish I had the courage to write something more serious one day).

Much of holiday Colombian cooking is very labour intensive and requires the participation of several people, but some of my favourite memories involve my brothers and I peeling and shredding coconuts (by hand, with a fork 🤣) for my mom’s special coconut desert. Or watching my mom boil corn in ash water so that it was easier to peel to make natilla from scratch… all in the backyard of our home in Corinto, Cauca.

Good times then, good times today 🙂
