It sucks that I need to do this. 👎

I need to share a quick update regarding how orders are processed on our website for the time being. Like many small businesses, we've recently experienced a significant surge in fraudulent credit card attempts.
While we catch and cancel these fake orders immediately, credit card processing fees are non-refundable. This means we lose money on transactions we never even accepted. To protect our small business from these predatory fees, we have switched our online checkout settings from automatic capture to Manual Authorization.

What this means for your next order:

1️⃣ No change to checkout: You will shop exactly as you always do.
2️⃣ Temporary hold: Your bank will place a temporary hold on the funds, but your card will not be officially charged right away.
3️⃣ Review & Charge: We will personally review the order details before officially processing the payment.

⏱️ Our commitment to your timeline:

If you have ordered from us before, you likely won't see any delays. I will recognize your names and your info from previous orders. This new review step will mostly affect new, unknown customers, for whom verifying details might add a day or two to our usual window.
We will still aim to process and ship all orders within 3 to 5 business days.

Not posting much here because I'd rather be playing outside.

Near water, on my bike, in the sunshine, learning to sew, in my garden, with my kids. You get the idea.

New designs are happening behind the scenes, but for now I'm soaking up the sun while it's here.

I'll share more soon

New store today!
I’m so honoured to have my work at , the new store where Island Affair Giftware was previously.
Rebecca has done such an incredible job honouring what Lila built with Island Affair and adding her own beautiful touch.
It really is something special, filled with locally made goods, art, and beautiful little details that make you want to wander around a little longer.

If you’re in the area, definitely pop in and check it out 💜

An oldie, but sharing again, as I’ve suddenly been getting quite a few requests for some of my original shell pendants.

I love these photos because they show part of the process behind lost wax casting, from the original shells I moulded, to wax, to metal.

What do you think, should I make more of these, or is it time for newer designs?

Fresh stock from Joie Designs just landed at one of our favourite local shops:

ROAM Store and Studio in Comox.

A little refresh for the shelves and a great excuse to wander through one of the loveliest shops in town.

I’m honoured to have my work included in the one-of-a-kind category this year.

I was talking to one of the engineers at work about a new design I’m working on—disc brake earrings.

Not just inspired by them, but actually built like them. Precise. Real geometry.

We ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole about CAD, prototyping, and the different ways I make my pieces for casting.

And then he said something that stuck with me:
“I bet most people have no idea how much goes into making jewelry.”

And honestly… yeah.

Because what you see at the end is just clean lines. Something simple. Easy to wear.

But getting there is not simple at all.

Most pieces start as rough sketches. Then I’ll move into CAD so I can refine things and go through different iterations.

And even then, I can spend hours just trying to get the last little details right.

Some pieces are completely different. The one-of-a-kind designs are carved entirely by hand, and my cast-from-nature pieces come straight from molds I take in nature.

Different processes, same end point.

And that’s before casting, finishing, polishing… all the parts you don’t see.

Honestly, I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve burnt my fingers doing this.

But that’s kind of the point.

So that when you put a piece on, it just feels easy. Like it belongs there.
