I thought I should touch on a topic that's being discussed in the creative space right now, the use of AI Apps to create attractive mock ups for their shop listings and socials
This is not intended to paint the people who use these tools in a bad light, but it is my firm belief that they do more harm than good, not just to the environment, but to your business and your ability to earn the trust of your customers.
There is a better way, and it's easier than you think:
Let me tell you how this photo was done~
This photography prop is a single tile from Home Depot: $2
It's a neutral colour, and a matte texture so that there is no glare to fight with from any light sources. Consider matte earring cards as well, this will make photographing on those easier too.
I bought my first light box on amazon [$25], many many years ago, and we recently upgraded to a larger one[$40], which is a better size for our new line of home décor. Both items were collapsible, for easy storage between creating.
Perks this one had over my last box include a ring shaped light rather than a bar, and an opening in the middle for top down shots. Its also lined with a reflective material, which provides light from all angles. You can adjust the light temperature and intensity. This is on the lowest brightness, on the most colour neutral option for best representation of colours]
Alternatively, natural light is your best friend, but I am a lazy nocturnal creature, so this small investment was well worth it for the freedom and control. You can also take your tile outside during the day, even overcast, and get some great shots too.
All of our photos are taken with an android smart phone, 12 megapixels, No flash, x3 Zoom from the opening, with 1:1 ratio. I center the piece using the rule of thirds, and the 1:1 ratio means I don't need to crop the photo in post before uploading to Instagram or Square Space, saving me loads of time.
I'm no professional photographer, but this method has served me well, and hopefully it helps you too!
