Exclusive November Drop! Available for purchase starting today 😊
These birds are created primarily from both stainless steel and silver-plated servingware but contain some remnants of other scrap metals such as bearings from a treadmill, rod from an old dog crate, steel from a water heater, just to name a few. I assemble them using a mix of welding and soldering; skills, concepts and tools collected from a career as a tradesperson. The mounts are wooden dishes have been found or rummaged from garage sales, second hand stores and even waste bins. I like to polish the finished pieces to highlight their inherent beauty, but I also like to keep intact the evidence of their history; dings, scratches, stains and discolourations of a past life of utility.
Each of these particular birds are designed to be hung on the wall using a nail, preferably secured to a stud inside the wall. All metals are subject to oxidization (rust, patina) depending on the environment, but care instructions will be provided to help preserve them.
They are awaiting names from their newly adoptive homes, so for now they are numbered for identification. Please message directly for inquiries about pricing and availability. At this time they are for local pick-up only.
Thank you for taking the time to look, and please share with others if you like what you see.
