Hi, my name is Ellis, and I'd love to share how these CreÂtures came to life.
This used to be in the "about section" which I recently discovered has been hidden by Facebook. So I'd like to share it here where it's easy to find.
I began making wire-wrapped trees of life in fall of 2016, and tried my hand at terrariums in spring of 2017. Both were an adventure in trying something new involving my hands, rather than computers or cell phones, and I fell in love.
I had so much fun creating both, that I couldn't stop. And because you can only have so many of each throughout the house, I tried to sell some terrariums, right before Mother's day. Well, all the terrariums flew off the "shelves" and I spent each day creating more to try to keep up with demand.
I'm always hungry to learn new things because I love learning and I have a need for variety. As I learn new crafts and other things, don't be surprised to start seeing them become part of this business. Although every item I create here will either be inspired by nature or made with something from nature and sometimes a touch of whimsy.
Why Mother Nature's CreÂtures? Well.. both the Trees of Life as well as Terrariums are inspired by nature. Obviously trees ARE nature. But, each terrarium has many natural elements in it, and often are inspired by nature; whether it be the sea, the beach, flowers and so on.
In addition, I love nature. And not just parks in the City or the green space behind our house. I love being surrounded by the mountains and forests; I love floating in the sea; and I love every opportunity I get to see, or somehow interact with wildlife; whether they're birds and bees in the back yard, or bears in the National Parks. Nature grounds me. It makes me feel like me, after I've spend too much time working, shopping, or otherwise doing things not "natural."
It therefore only makes sense that I've been able to find joy in using my hands, and working with things provided by Mother Nature, to Create beautiful unique items inspired by nature as well.
As for the CreÂtures part: it's a combination of "creating," "creations," and rhyming, really. Though I suppose that each item I make, does in a way become a creature as well. But, the pronunciation of the word is definitely cre-A-ture, and not creature
Thank you so much for your interest not only in my creations, but also in the story of their small beginnings. I hope that you'll find as much joy in my CreÂtures, as I find in making them. If you ever want to purchase any of my available creÂtures or would like something custom made, I love doing that. Please get in touch with me through my email or text message
