Sharing my first big project of 2026 ❤️ Custom beaded hat and matching ribbon shirt for .cardinal. Joel is off on a month long international exchange called the Ship for World Youth. He’s the leader of the Canada youth delegation and their colour of choice for their national outfit is red. Working with one colour was a bit of a challenge for me so I opted to work in different shades of red with a little bit of gold and black accents.

People often assume beadwork is finished once the design looks complete.

But in traditional making, how something is finished mattered just as much as how it looked.

Edges were secured carefully. Threads were hidden, not rushed. Weak points were reinforced — even if no one would ever see them.

Not because someone was watching. But because the piece was meant to last.

There’s a quiet discipline in finishing something properly. In taking the extra time for the parts that won’t be noticed, admired, or praised.

That care becomes part of the work itself.
Handmade pieces don’t just carry design.

They carry intention — all the way to the last stitch.

I think about that often when I’m making.

Pretty proud of these totes! I love them because I finally found a way to use my fabric scraps. I had a lot of fabric stashed that was either too much or too little for other sewing projects. These were part of my stock for markets this season as well.

Some of these fabrics (especially the ones in the first photo) I’ve had in my fabric stash for years! It felt good to finally make use of them.

Each tote was one of a kind, even if I had enough fabric to make two, I made sure the ribbon work was slightly different in each one. 🤎

Why a waffle? This allows me to get creative and try something new without limitations. I’ve been wanting to try a reversible ribbon skirt for some time and really enjoyed the challenge! This also allows me to offer my work at a more accessible cost.
