What are Lifestyle Management services? It is a question we hear often, because many people do not realize services like this exist outside of hiring a full-time personal assistant.

In reality, many people need help, but most do not need full-time support. That is where our Lifestyle Management services come in — providing clients with the assistance they need, without requiring them to hire a full-time salaried employee.

Our Lifestyle Management Services are specifically designed to help simplify day-to-day life by handling the details that can quickly become overwhelming when balancing work, family, travel, homeownership, and busy schedules.

Imagine returning home to groceries already stocked, repairs coordinated, deliveries handled, appointments booked, errands completed, and everything running smoothly while you were away. That is just one example of the many ways we help make life easier for our clients.

Some of the other ways we assist clients include:
- Appointment scheduling
- Vendor and maintenance coordination
- Dry cleaning and prescription pick-up
- Personal shopping and gift purchasing
- Returns and exchanges
- Mail and package management
- Vehicle detailing and maintenance coordination
- Transportation arrangements
- Assistance while travelling or away from home
- Home office and administrative support

For many people, Lifestyle Management is not about luxury. It is about having trusted support that helps reduce stress, save time, and make life feel more manageable.

No task is too big or too small. Our services are designed to support clients when they need assistance, without locking them into difficult contracts or unnecessary commitments.
If there is something you need help coordinating, simply ask.

It is officially wildfire season across Western Canada, and conditions in many areas are already extremely dry.

Over the last few days alone, Red Deer Emergency Services responded to multiple vegetation fires throughout the region, including a large brush fire near homes in the West Park neighbourhood. Fortunately, no homes were damaged, but situations like these are an important reminder of how quickly fires can spread this time of year.

Please be extremely careful with any outdoor fires, campfires, ci******es, equipment, or activities that could create sparks.

It is also very important to stay up to date on fire bans and restrictions in the specific regions where you live, travel, camp, or spend weekends during the summer months.

We are also including British Columbia because many of our clients spend time in BC throughout the summer.
Official fire ban resources:

BC: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/prevention/fire-bans-and-restrictions

Alberta: https://www.albertafirebans.ca
Please note that as of today, May 28th - there are active fire bans in place in multiple counties of Alberta. Please pay close attention to the fire bans in whatever areas that you might be headed to.

Last year, we also shared a blog post with preventative measures homeowners can take to help safeguard their homes during wildfire season.

A major watermain break in Calgary’s Coach Hill neighbourhood on Tuesday evening left streets flooded, homes affected, and dozens of residents without water for at least 24 hours.

According to reports, water quickly accumulated in the area after the watermain broke, creating severe flooding conditions in the cul-de-sac and impacting nearby homes, yards, and garages.

Situations like this are a reminder that home emergencies are not always predictable. A watermain break, severe storm, appliance failure, burst pipe, or unexpected leak can happen with little to no warning, and unfortunately, they do not wait for a “good time” to happen.

While no homeowner can prevent every emergency, there are steps that can help reduce potential damage:
- Regularly checking your property
- Ensuring someone can respond quickly if an issue arises
- Monitoring for visible signs of water intrusion or damage
- Having trusted professionals available to assess concerns early

This is also one of the many reasons Home Watch services are so important when homeowners are away. If something unexpected happens while you are travelling, having someone routinely checking on your property can help identify issues sooner and help coordinate a faster response.

There is something exciting about opening up a second home or seasonal property for the summer again.

The windows finally get opened. The fresh air comes in. Patio furniture gets uncovered. The property starts feeling alive again after a long winter.

But before settling in for the season, it is always worth taking a little extra time to properly check the property over.

After sitting vacant through winter and spring weather, even well-maintained homes can develop issues that are not immediately obvious. Small leaks, moisture buildup, HVAC problems, pest activity, storm damage, dead smoke alarm batteries, or issues with irrigation systems and outdoor equipment can all go unnoticed when a property sits empty for months at a time.

A few things worth checking:
• Run all taps and inspect for leaks
• Check windows and doors for moisture or drafts
• Test smoke alarms and security systems
• Inspect the exterior for winter or storm damage
• Replace HVAC filters and circulate stagnant air
• Check hot tubs, pools, irrigation systems, and outdoor lighting
• Look for signs of insects, rodents, or wasp nests

Taking the time to inspect things carefully at the start of the season can help prevent much larger problems later on.

At Acuity Advantage, we help homeowners keep a close eye on their properties year-round through professional Home Watch and lifestyle support services across Calgary, Red Deer County, and Whitehorse.

Happy Victoria Day!

The unofficial kickoff to summer might feel a little unusual this year, especially with parts of Alberta waking up to snow this weekend. But we are not going to let that slow us down.

Summer is coming. We promise.
Long evenings. Warm weather. Endless sunshine. Patio season. Time at the lake. Backyard gatherings. Road trips. Golf rounds. Walks through the neighborhood. More time spent outdoors with family and friends.

There is something about this time of year that reminds people to slow down a little and enjoy life more.

Whether you are spending the day relaxing at home, opening up the cabin, travelling, or simply enjoying some well-earned downtime, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable Victoria Day.

Happy (almost) summer, everyone.

Today, we take a moment to celebrate the women who shape our lives in the most meaningful ways.

I feel incredibly grateful to be surrounded by three amazing young moms in my immediate family—each raising their families with strength, grace, and so much heart. Watching you care for your homes and nurture your families while carrying forward what matters most is truly inspiring.

We also hold close the memory of my mom, Eileen, who continues to guide me every day. Her love, her prize-winning banana bread, and her gift of caring for others have been passed down in so many meaningful ways. I feel that in the little things every day.

I also want to acknowledge my close friends who are raising their families with such care, intention, and heart—you inspire me more than you know.

At Acuity Advantage, we understand that home is so much more than a place—it’s where life unfolds, families are nurtured, and legacies are built. Today, we honour all the women who make that possible.

Wishing you a beautiful and meaningful Mother’s Day.

When a home is left empty, it does not take long for it to show.

Mail starts to collect. Garbage bins sit out. Lights do not change. There is no visible sign of activity.

These are the small things that signal a home is unattended.

This is where Home Watch comes in.

Home Watch is about making sure your home is not left completely on its own while you are away. It provides regular, in-person check-ins so that everything is being looked after and nothing is being overlooked.
At Acuity Advantage, we walk through your home, check that everything is in order, and make sure your property continues to feel cared for.

We also take care of the everyday details that help maintain that presence:
- Bringing in mail and garbage bins
- Adjusting lighting so the home does not appear empty
- Keeping things moving so the home looks lived in
- Picking up packages
- Watering th plants
- Completing a comprehensive inspection of each home

It is a simple concept, but it makes a meaningful difference. Your home continues to feel active, maintained, and looked after—even when you are not there.

And in situations like this, prevention is always cheaper than dealing with what can happen when a home is left completely unattended.

At Acuity Advantage, we often see the same pattern every spring.

After a long winter, there are a number of small things around the home that need attention. Minor repairs, small issues, things that were easy to ignore when it was cold out or when life was busy.
Now is the time to take care of them.

That small leak under the sink, a toilet that runs a little longer than it should, a loose handle, a draft coming from a window—none of these feel urgent on their own. In most cases, they are simple, reasonably priced fixes.

But when they are left too long, they have a way of turning into something much bigger.

A small plumbing issue can become devastating water damage. A minor leak can lead to wall or flooring repairs. What could have been handled for a reasonable cost early on can quickly turn into an emergency situation costing thousands of dollars and a lot of stress.

This is where prevention matters. Prevention is always cheaper.

Taking care of repairs early helps protect your home, avoid larger issues, and save you from dealing with unexpected, high-cost problems later on.

For clients in Calgary, Acuity Advantage offers handyman services to help with these types of repairs. Whether it is a short list or a few things that have been building up over time, we can help get everything taken care of properly.

If you have been putting off a few repairs, now is the time to get them handled:

At Acuity Advantage, we are often asked for advice on how to better protect a home. One of the biggest things we share is this: prevention is always cheaper.

When it comes to break-ins, most are not random. They tend to happen when a home looks empty, quiet, or easy to access. And unfortunately, it does not take much for a home to give that impression.

As a homeowner, there are some simple things you can do to help prevent that:
- Follow the 9 PM rule—take a few minutes each night to make sure doors are locked, lights are set, and everything is secure
- Use timers or smart plugs to turn lights on and off. Leaving one light on all the time can actually signal no one is home
- Bring your garbage bins in after collection day
- Keep gates locked and store away ladders, tools, or anything that could be used to access your home
- Heading out for the evening? Leave a light on in a room that is visible from the street
- Keep valuables and jewelry stored somewhere secure, not out in the open
- Avoid posting on social media while you are out. It is always better to share once you are home

A break-in is more than just losing things. It is the feeling of someone having been in your space, going through your home, and taking what matters to you.

The reality is that many of these situations can be avoided with a few small, consistent habits.

And those small steps are always easier—and far less costly—than dealing with the aftermath.

Happy May! If you have been feeling the itch to clean up around your home, you are not alone.

It is easy to focus on the obvious—closets, counters, getting everything looking fresh again. But some of the more important things are not always top of mind.

A few worth checking:
- Furnace filters (a big one after a long winter)
- Dryer vents and lint buildup
-Window seals and screens
- Gutters and downspouts
- Yard cleanup—especially brush or debris sitting too close to the house
- Outdoor taps and hoses for any cracks or leaks

None of these take long to check, but leaving them too long can turn into bigger (and more expensive) problems.

A good spring reset is not just about how your home looks. It is about how it is holding up after the winter.
