At the end of 2013 I came to a point in my life where I could see my path diverge in front of me. It was then evident, due to a medical condition the pain coursing through my body was here to stay. This meant the type of work I did was no longer a possibility so I gave up my position at the retirement home where I was employed. Parting ways was difficult for me; I enjoyed my work very much. In an
attempt to keep my mind off the pain and the fact I was now unemployed, I made jewellery. At that time I had a lot of pain, which meant I was making a lot of jewellery. I turned ugly pain into pretty pieces of art. The Harriston Farmers’ Market was starting up soon and in an effort to feel like I was working again I decided to rent a table for the summer. It was great exposure, and living in a very supportive community, I had a lot of fun. People got to know me, what I did, and were interested in what I provided. Fast forward to today: Glass on a Wire is the name of my business. I have a studio where I offer one of a kind jewellery, custom orders, re purposing of your old jewellery, and small repairs. As well as offering wholesale opportunities to select stores. Susan has been making jewellery for a number of years now, from bracelets to necklaces, earrings, rings and keychains, she has something for everyone!
