Nicky Boehnisch was born and raised in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Growing up near the ocean, she developed a love for nature and wildlife. As a young girl, she raised birds, falcons, cats,and dogs. As a teen, she was hired as a dolphin trainer and considered becoming a marine biologist. However, Nicky discovered that her passion for art and jewellery design was a stronger calling. Nicky graduat
ed from art school with distinction and completed a five year apprenticeship at Francarlo's Jewellery in Port Elizabeth. Once qualified as a goldsmith, she moved to the U.K., where she studied for three years at the Sir John Cas University for her Masters in Fine Jewellery and Precious Stone Setting. While living in Europe, she travelled through 17 countries and loved learning about the cultural differences in jewellery design. On a whim, Nicky came to Canada for a brief visit. She quickly fell in love with the Rocky Mountains and decided to stay. Twenty years later, she continues to call Banff, Alberta, her home. Nicky has obtained her GIA in Diamond Grading and has started a thriving business "Forged Storm Custom Jewellery LTD" despite being a busy wife and mother of two young girls.
