Our Story

Carriageway Studios takes its name from the situation of the building at the end of the 19th century carriageway off the quaint main street of Almonte, an old Mill town just west of Ottawa that is renowned for being full of innovation in arts and culture. The studios house 7 private work spaces (plus a large exhibition, workshop and event space). It is the creation of 3 artists (Chandler Swain, Lily Swain and Dawn Walker) with diverse practices in graphics, letterpress, painting, printmaking and ceramic art.

Our current artist community includes graphics, textiles, painting, jewelry making and artisanal juice.
