Proud to present this rediscovered tiara by Philippe Wolfers at BRAFA Art Fair

Dazzling news! This exceptional Art Nouveau 'Peacock' tiara/brooch, a long-lost unique piece by Philippe Wolfers (1858-1929) in gold, silver, diamond, enamel and opal, will be presented at the BRAFA Art Fair by Epoque Fine Jewels.

Epoque Fine Jewels will exhibit a collection of Art Nouveau jewelry to celebrate its 65th anniversary. The peacock was recently purchased as a brooch from the descendants of Mrs. Léopold Kronacher, who had commissioned the piece in 1902-1903. After some research, it was recognized as the centerpiece of the missing ‘Peacock’ tiara from the Wolfers’ archives. A photograph in an old magazine made it possible to reconstruct the tiara in order to regain this masterpiece’s former glory.

Unique pieces by Philippe Wolfers are extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors around the world. Examples can be found in major museums worldwide including the VMFA Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim and the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels.

At the 68th edition of the Fair (Brussels Expo, 29 January - 5 February), some of the 130 participating galleries will show pieces, 2023 being a year dedicated to the movement in Brussels.

Here’s one of my favourite rings in our collection: this beautiful Art Nouveau gold, enamel and peridot ring is by René Lalique and dates from 1900. This ring well exemplifies Lalique’s mastery of design and of craft. He has characteristically selected a motif from nature within the conventions of the Art Nouveau style, translating it into an elegant graphic scheme, beautifully enamelled in perfect harmony with the central marquise shaped peridot.

Lalique was the undisputed genius of Art Nouveau jewelry. At the end of the 19th century he completely turned upside down the conventions of French jewelry design and manufacture by introducing in their place an entirely new form of artistic expression which was to totally transform the jeweller’s art. 
Today Lalique’s jewels remain the most powerful and poignant reminders of the turn of the century.

We do love a beautiful bow brooch and this is not your average bow….This impressive ‘flot de rubans’ brooch is by Van Cleef & Arpels. It is set with 24 carats of baguette and brilliant cut diamonds, mounted in platinum.
The black and white publicity of Van Cleef & Arpels, dating from 1950, shows a very elegant way of wearing the ‘flot de rubans’ in the hair.

Don’t you love these diamond earrings by de Grisogono? I think they are just stunning. By the way the lower hoops are detachable which make them easy to wear and still very elegant.

De 34ste editie van de grootste nationale kunstbeurs keert van zondag 14 november tot en met zondag 21 november na twee jaar terug in de RAI. De aangekondigde nieuwe coronamaatregelen maken dat PAN Amsterdam in de RAI, als doorstroomlocatie, met aangepaste openingstijden kan doorgaan: iedere dag van 11.00 tot 18.00 uur geopend. PAN Amsterdam en de RAI zorgen er samen voor dat bezoekers een veilig bezoek kunnen brengen aan de beurs. Bezoekers van PAN Amsterdam moeten bij binnenkomst een geldig coronatoegangsbewijs tonen waaruit vaccinatie, herstel of een negatieve testuitslag - niet ouder dan 24 uur - blijkt.

When you see me all dressed up, this is what I’m always wearing: clip brooches😍. Here’s a very fine pair of Art Deco platinum and diamond dress clips by Caldwell & Co. They come with the original brooch fitting to wear both clips together as a single brooch. Philadelphia, circa 1930.

The quality of the diamonds and the workmanship is just stunning. I’ve added some extra pictures to show you how I normally wear these clips, but they can also be worn as pendants, head ornaments, on a pearl choker, etc…for me these are the most versatile pieces of jewelry. They just fit any elegant outfit!
