Saskia Shutt Designs Bespoke High Jewellery | Fairmined Gold | Jewellery with Provenance | Private & Corporate Commissions | Crafting Conscious Luxury Responsible precious metals.

EN: Saskia Shutt is a Brussels-based jewellery designer. She handmades bespoke creations, composed of precious metals and gems. Usually working to order, either remodels customers’ old jewellery, or sources precious metals and stones herself, ecologically and ethically responsible. Saskia specialises in personalised commissions. Commission your unique engagement, wedding, commitment and eternity r

ings. All are handmade by Saskia Shutt in her workshop in Brussels. Your rings can be created in silver, gold, palladium or platinum. The precious metal sourced, is (where possible) from sustainable precious metal companies. This is silver & gold that has been recycled back via a traceable process into fine gold, at the bullion refinery. The feed material for responsible precious metals comes in the form of scrap, from market sectors such as the jewellery, giftware, medical and electronics industries. customers bring their old, broken or unworn precious jewellery into the workshop for remodelling work. Once the jewellery is dismantled, it can then be melted down and reformed into a new jewel. Hence, the customer, now not only has a completely new piece, but also a greener, recycled, eco-friendly and even ethical new piece of jewellery. The design for the new jewellery is tailored to the customer’s wishes. Saskia works with her customer to create a unique, wearable jewel, while retaining its sentimental value. The demand for eco-friendly products has risen. Consequently, remodelling jewellery is far better for the environment than mining for new gold. So, re-use your old jewellery and transform it into a new unique piece.

From the 1st of May until the 31 of August I had the privilege of exhibiting my brooch under the theme "Photosynthesis - the chemistry of light" at the Botanical Gardens just outside Brussels - Plantentuin Meise - This is a recap of those past 4 months, along with a few of my favourites out of the 36 exhibitors.

Thank you to Lahaye Denise for encouraging me to submit my design for the Biannuale 2026 of Cultuurvuur vzw hosted by the Botanical Gardens. Thank you to Lise Leonard for your organisation, support and follow up before, during and after the exhibition months. https://saskiashutt.com/online-store/peridot-brooch/

With IssI – I just made it onto their weekly engagement list by being one of their top engagers 🎉

IssI is a fabulous gallery with regular new and inspiring exhibitons including the work of the gallery holder herself Si Bollé. I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the trendy area of Kanal which should also be opening at the end of this year.

So go check it out

Jewellery not only holds sentimental of the behooder, it can also tell a story of human value.

This ring was created in Fairmined white gold, promoting fair pay, fair working and fair living conditions.

The beautiful cushion-cut Moyo garnet supports women miners in Tanzania.

One of the diamonds belongs to the client, so it got a second life in this ring, while the other diamond comes from responsible mining supporting local fishermen off the coast of South Africa who dive seasonally for these diamonds.

What if high end luxury could also change the lives of the miners at the beginning of the supply chain?

That is exactly what this ring does.
Fairmined gold empowers the miners
Diamonds from the Ocean off the coast of South Africa where local fishermen dive for diamonds giving them a second income and done in a way that respects the ocean beds
And a sapphire responsibly mined in Madagascar

Fair luxury is not a myth or an illusion.

Did you know that the gold and the precious gemstones in this ring are traceable to the mines with a short block chain. Creating fair living and working conditions for the miners and their communities.

This beautiful ring was created using the customer's own gold, but the gemstones (two natural cognac diamonds and a verdelite tournament) both come from responsible mining and supporting the empowerment of the gemstone mining communities.

My rings are back home ✨ After their journey abroad, I’m deeply grateful to Joke Langmans for ensuring their safe return.

These three rings were originally created for the Reciprocity exhibition during New York Jewelry Week 2024 — a project that explored the relationships, exchanges, and responsibilities embedded within jewellery. My sincere thanks to the organisers and curators who brought this meaningful initiative to life, and especially to Dana Bronfman, Andrea José, Delphine Leymarie, and Jackie Barbosa for their vision and dedication.

From there, the rings continued their journey to Chicago, where they were presented during the Reciprocity Jewels trunk show at Gallery 2052. I’m very thankful to Nora McCarthy, founder of the gallery, and Susan Wheeler for co-organising this beautiful event. It was particularly special that the trunk show coincided with the Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference, placing these pieces in a context that truly reflects their values.

Each of these rings carries more than a design — they embody a commitment. A commitment to transparency and traceability, to knowing where materials come from and who they impact. A commitment to supporting mercury-free mining practices that protect ecosystems and human health. And above all, a commitment to the empowerment of the miners, through fair wages and respectful working conditions.

For me, jewellery is not only about aesthetics; it is about connection, responsibility, and reciprocity at every step of the process. If you’re curious to learn more about these pieces and the stories behind them, you’re very welcome to explore further on my website. https://saskiashutt.com/product-category/rings/
