My rings are back home ✨ After their journey abroad, I’m deeply grateful to Joke Langmans for ensuring their safe return.
These three rings were originally created for the Reciprocity exhibition during New York Jewelry Week 2024 — a project that explored the relationships, exchanges, and responsibilities embedded within jewellery. My sincere thanks to the organisers and curators who brought this meaningful initiative to life, and especially to Dana Bronfman, Andrea José, Delphine Leymarie, and Jackie Barbosa for their vision and dedication.
From there, the rings continued their journey to Chicago, where they were presented during the Reciprocity Jewels trunk show at Gallery 2052. I’m very thankful to Nora McCarthy, founder of the gallery, and Susan Wheeler for co-organising this beautiful event. It was particularly special that the trunk show coincided with the Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference, placing these pieces in a context that truly reflects their values.
Each of these rings carries more than a design — they embody a commitment. A commitment to transparency and traceability, to knowing where materials come from and who they impact. A commitment to supporting mercury-free mining practices that protect ecosystems and human health. And above all, a commitment to the empowerment of the miners, through fair wages and respectful working conditions.
For me, jewellery is not only about aesthetics; it is about connection, responsibility, and reciprocity at every step of the process. If you’re curious to learn more about these pieces and the stories behind them, you’re very welcome to explore further on my website. https://saskiashutt.com/product-category/rings/
