1920s geometry, still impossibly modern.
A refined Art Deco pairing in white gold: earrings with rose cut diamonds, deep black onyx, and softly shimmering pear-shaped drops, alongside a striking geometric ring with crisp onyx lines and delicate millegrain detail.

These pieces are not part of a parure and do not actually belong together, but they do look marvelous as a pair.

This unusual Art Deco ring, circa 1920, brings together old cut and rose cut diamonds in a bold geometric composition, yet its most striking elements are far more personal: two preserved baby teeth, set as a tender keepsake of childhood and maternal love.

The inclusion of teeth in jewellery reaches back centuries. From 18th- and 19th-century sentimental pieces where locks of hair and milk teeth were preserved as intimate mementos. These objects carried deep emotional meaning. Even Queen Victoria is said to have cherished such keepsakes. By the time the Art Deco period emerged, this tradition met modern design, transforming private memory into striking, wearable art.

Rooted and Winged

Not everything that catches the eye does so at once. Sometimes it stays low among the soil and first green, as if it would rather be found than announced.

Then it shows itself as a jewelled beetle, its domed garnet body glowing darkly against the gold branch it clings to. With ruby eyes, a small scatter of old diamonds, and those lively little legs, this Victorian brooch has something playful.
