I design and make distinctive contemporary jewellery for people who seek unique accessories to complement their individual style. I direct my passion for beauty into creating wearable art. leasure. WHY I DO IT
I don’t really know why I’m a maker, just that I need to always be creating. It’s in my DNA. Those ancient people who sat around the fire carving beads, making garments, fashioning tools – they were my people. As for those who hunted prey, well, they were somebody else’s people. I have always made things. I enjoy both the creative process and mastering technical skills and, hopefully, creating something beautiful out of the process. This drive to create has most often been directed at personal adornment. I began sewing as a teen, which led to professional work in my twenties. I then took up jewellery making as a hobby and, well, here I am. In my spare time, I torture yarn into scarves and blankets for my loved ones with all the enthusiasm of a self-taught beginner. I acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways on which I live and work. I pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, as well as to all First Nations' communities.
