“Summertime” does far more than make a statement. Across its impressive 22.62ct Australian opal doublet from Coober Pedy, colour unfolds like a distant landscape, with a mountainous horizon rising in imposing beauty and shimmering lines reminiscent of the long roads travelled to reach it.

At the heart of “The Desired Jewel” is an exceptional Australian black crystal opal from Lightning Ridge, alive with intense flecks of emerald and deep azure that appear suspended within its extraordinary depths.

There is an almost celestial quality to the gemstone. Colour seems to hover beneath the surface, drawing the eye inward as flashes of electric green and saturated blue emerge, disappear and return with every movement.

Australian black crystal opal of this character is extraordinarily rare. Nature has created this combination of colour, depth and pattern only once, making “The Desired Jewel” impossible to reproduce.

These are freshly split boulder opal host rocks, ironstone matrix broken open by hand at our Jundah-Opalville mines in outback Queensland. Most will reveal nothing. But every now and then, the stone opens and the colour inside takes your breath away.

This is where every Opal Minded piece begins. Not in a showroom. Not in a catalogue. In the red dust of the Australian outback, where nature has been working for millions of years.
