HOT TIP: Marry someone as nerdy as you are πŸ˜…

For our upcoming 10 year wedding anniversary and I took a quick trip to Tassie for some fossicking adventures.

A HUGE thanks to Secret River Tours who took us out for another fun day on/in the Weld River searching for Sapphires, Topaz, Zircon, Spinel and a couple of tiny black Tourmalines. We also kicked ricks around on the Ringarooma River and came home with a delicious Smoky Quartz jellybean and some other bits of Quartz and Topaz.

I even snuck in a bit of time while Ben fished to carve a wax ring that will feature one of our fossicked Sapphires once they've been cut.

Total Nerds-Unite holiday πŸ˜… Highly recommended!

A break from regular jewellery news to share my epic Easter Sunday adventure.

This band is the very fabric of my being. A literal soundtrack to my life, so I can stretch this to say I'm sharing a piece of the jeweller behind your jewels πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

I've waited 14 years to see again, and after losing lead singer, Shane MacGowan, I knew it would hit differently, but WOW! What a night! It was every bit as incredible as I'd hoped. That band. Those voices. That energy 🀩 And all within the sails of the .

Just know that when I return to my usual jewellery pics, that this is the music that fills my studio whilst I work πŸ’šπŸ€

A sneaky stud surprise for one of the strongest, most fabulous women I know, to go with her sneaky online order of my Imprint Duo ring πŸ₯°

One thing I love about jewellery is that even though I might be far away, the people I love can take a little piece of me wherever they go.

Enjoy the new bling 😍

JACK HARMAN: Every Mineral Absorbed and Scattered

Yesterday we had the pleasure of celebrating and the exhibition of his MFA body of work. A delicate exploration of the myths and legends of his Great-Grandfather, Francis Reginald Martin ( 's Grandfather), through the tracing of his prospecting journeys.

A beautiful exhibition of work that utilises the rich earth of mapped locations, creating an alternate view of these landscapes.

My newly saturated gemmology-brain was quite excited by the Mica slide projector, with each new slide a fresh slice of Mica with it's cleavage planes and delicate topographical aesthetic.

The chromatographic soil samples, each from a different mapped and diarised location, explore such a stunning method to document the journeys taken by both Jack and Frank.

Congratulations, Jack. We were so glad to be there and look forward to seeing what comes next.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY πŸ’œ

I celebrated yesterday, photographically undocumented, at a conversation between Drusilla Modjeska and Julie Ewington on Women. In Art at , followed by bookshopping and lunch with my 15 year old daughter.

I watch my daughter with her friends, and see the way they move through the world and I learn more about her and about myself. The future is in good hands. Hands that are strong willed and on the right side of history.

An artwork mentioned in the gallery conversation was a sculpture by Australian Artist, Julie Rrap, SOMOS. Standing On My Own Shoulders. And so, here I am... standing on the shoulders of that tiny little pink jumpered, preschool aged Erin. On all of the knowledge she gained, the love she showed, the friendships she nurtured. I am so proud of what that little girl went on to achieve, and excited for all that is yet to come.

Standing on my own shoulders, on the shoulders of all of the incredible women before me, and proudly side by side with the women in my life as we step into our futures.

STUDY TIME! πŸ’Ž

Hilariously, my 15 year old and I are both studying Chemistry this week and comparing notes on atoms, elements and the periodic table!

This week was a huge one, with a return to TAFE teaching, as well as my first week of studying a Diploma of Gemmology at

I'm really looking forward to this new adventure, although it means a little less bench time and fewer markets for the next couple of years.

You can still find all of my current stock on the Mill Foundry website, as well as via our fabulous stockists, and I will be at on the 21st and 22nd of March for one of my few markets. Make sure to pop over to the website or in-store at my stockists before the 16th of Feb to get your hands on some Mill Foundry goodies before the price increase comes into effect.
