It's that time of year again! This is the second year I'm reflecting on the
This year I decided to primarily focus on my digital bird illustrations. I enrolled into a conservation course and it has been a big influence on the educational side of my art. I decided to scale back on local markets as there were a lot of cons that were building up. Instead I wanted to focus on art and design markets. I also wanted to focus on sustainability and use Australian made recycled, eco-conscious materials.
I was fortunate enough to be chosen to participate in the "Made By Hand" market and had a blast. I also was stoked to be chosen as a finalist in the Beechworth honey label pollination competition (you can still purchase my honey jars from ๐). I also continued to be a part of the Port Kembla community and stocked my bird art .plant.house
For most of this year, I felt pretty content with my art making, between balancing part time work and study, but some good things come to an end and tragedies occur. Last week I experienced a thief breaking into my house and stealing my precious ipad I use to create my art. He also managed to steal all my precious belongings and empty my bank account, so now I'm left with nothing. I feel like the past couple of years after being diagnosed with MS has been such a struggle. But being a Ta**us, I'm fairly bull headed and willing to fight.
I'm hoping I can continue my art making and I'm hoping I can get my hands on an ipad again. So until then, I'm on a bit of a pause until I can find my feet again.
I do really appreciate all the recent outpouring of assistance and kind messages, but I find it hard to accept help. I feel like the best way you all can support me is to continue to believe in me and support my art. You can currently find my stock within the habitat plant house/wild fowl shop in Port Kembla.
I do thank everyone of you so far for following my journey and rooting for me. Fingers crossed next year is a great one! *manifesting* ๐
Much love,
Sofie
