Why does jewellery remodelling sometimes cost more than buying a brand new piece from a jewellery store? š©āš
Itās a question I completely understand, but the two are actually very different processes.
When I remodel your jewellery, Iām not simply melting it down and turning it into something new.
Iām creating a custom piece specifically for you, using traditional jewellery making techniques and focusing on quality and longevity, rather than designing something around a particular retail price point.
Before I even begin making your new piece, your existing jewellery needs to be carefully pulled apart. Stones are unset, checked and measured, your gold is prepared and melted, then the new piece is made by hand in my workshop.
There are certainly quicker and cheaper ways to manufacture jewellery. CAD, casting and hollowing areas of a design can all help make jewellery more affordable to produce.
But that isnāt what I do at Elova Jewellery.
For me, remodelling is about taking jewellery that already means something to you and giving it another chapter.
Youāre not just paying for the finished piece.
Youāre paying for the craftsmanship, the custom design, the time involved in working with your existing materials and, most importantly, the opportunity to wear something sentimental every single day rather than leaving it tucked away in a jewellery box. ā¤ļø
