Why this Lord of the Rings inspired watch took 6 months

When Nick Edwards and I sat down to talk about his dream watch, I didn’t think it would lead to the most intricate build we had ever undertaken

The brief was Lord of the Rings inspired, but its the details you don’t see at first glance that make this piece special

Hand engraving by Ben Heron on the inside edge of the face to match the inscription of the One Ring.

Elvish numerical hour markers

The Leaf of Lorien at the 12 hour marker to signify friendship and a part of the Fellowship

Door to Moria peering through a portal hole to the watch movement

A brass dial chemical etched inspired by Elvish architecture. Dial work by Precision Engraving & Laser Cutting

Handmade leather band in green to match the cape work by Frodo by MANEO LEATHER

And to finalise the story, amazing photos and video by ETNZ Media

This was never about making a watch. It was telling a story

Some of the most recognisable liveries in Australian motorsport history may no longer be allowed to race in their original form.

Motorsport Australia has deleted the Schedule K exemptions that previously allowed some historic race cars to retain period to***co sponsorship.

The revised rule now requires every car to comply with current federal to***co advertising laws, with competitors carrying the burden of proving a disputed livery does not promote a regulated to***co product.

That also raises fresh questions over to***co-inspired colour schemes and graphics that stop short of using the brand name itself.
