Butterscotch diamond solitaire 🤎

I love this beautiful treacle-coloured natural diamond, it looks glorious held proudly in this ring.

One of only a handful of solitaire rings I have made and I can’t wait for you to see it, Lxx😊

This makes me think of golden syrup and butter, the best parts of an Anzac biscuit or a golden syrup upside down pudding both of which were on Mum’s baking repertoire.
Mum came from a generation of women who did not skimp on butter and sugar.
Neither comparison are sophisticated enough however to merit comparing with this gorgeous beyond-words solitaire that’s ready for setting.
I purchased the natural diamond 25 or so years ago with the intention of making a ring for myself, which I never have.
These deep and richly coloured Australian brown diamonds are difficult to source so it was a thrill to have it on hand for this request.
All these years later, I have made the intended piece for the diamond, just not for myself!
It’s found its hand-home on a dear customer of ours and that brings me joy ✨ and maybe.. a lil jealousy.

I found a note book I carried around in 1995 that I gave to my Dad that year as a Christmas present. He gave it back to me before he died, and I remember being surprised that he had kept the scrappy book filled with rough biro drawings of people on public transport or at pubs and cafes, while I was waiting for friends to show up.
I love how I captured the messy breezy-ness of observing life in my 20’s.

Polishing up this ring I made years ago (returned for re-sizing) I had forgotten how wild it is! It’s wonderful to see again.
I remember making the setting of the beautiful champagne diamond to appear like a boat and the band to feel like the sea 🌊
There is so much energy in the design

Tidal Pool ring

I carry a childhood wonderment with tidal pools; they’re mysterious and magical worlds under a lens of water.

I can so easily imagine resting on my heels while hugging my knees against the sea breeze gazing into a pool hoping to catch a glimpse of a sea creature dart under seaweed.

As inspiration for this ring, she supplied imagery from where she and her family holiday on the Otways coastline, the series included photos of rocks pools and sand patterns with beautiful textures, shapes and colours.

The sea blue sapphire (repurposed from a family ring) became the tidal pool; we combined with muted sand and sea-coloured natural diamonds and sapphires.

I love this ring, it was a pleasure to make for a delightful woman, who gave me immense freedom to play with memory of my own childhood holidays spent quietly fossicking with a bucket on a windy and rocky coastline.
