As the full moon rises above the tidal flats of Port Hedland, a breathtaking optical illusion creates what looks like a glowing staircase reaching into the night sky.

Whether you're a local or visiting the Pilbara, this is a sight not to be missed.

Celebrating 130 Years of Port Hedland! 🎉

The Port Hedland Historical Society is inviting the community to help mark 130 years since Port Hedland was gazetted as a townsite with a special Community Tree Planting Ceremony. 🌳

Wednesday, 21 October 2026

Dalgety House Museum, 6 Anderson Street

The ceremony will be followed by a morning tea at the museum.

Free entry - everyone is welcome!

The Dalgety House Museum will also be open on Thursday, 22 October, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Let's come together to celebrate our history and help honour this important milestone in Port Hedland's story.
