We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make the tiara for Miss Universe Australia.

Made in 18ct white gold and featuring natural Australian blue, green, and yellow sapphires, complimented by over 1,100 round brilliant cut white diamonds, the design takes inspiration from the organic shapes of the Banksia leaf reimagined into a uniquely contemporary form.

Bangkok | Days 2 & 4

The search for exceptional coloured gemstones continues.

Bangkok is home to some of the world’s most skilled gemstone cutters, and Stelios has been spending time with the people behind the stones — searching through incredible rough gems, reconnecting with trusted cutters and exploring what can be created from each unique piece.

And this trip has been hands-on in more ways than one. Stelios has even been learning the art of gemstone cutting, getting a closer look at the incredible skill, precision and patience that goes into transforming a rough stone into a beautifully cut gem.

From rough to refined, every stone has a story — and finding the right one is all part of the journey.

Day One: Gemstone Hunting in Bangkok

The first day in Bangkok is all about getting into the heart of the gemstone world.

Stelios spent the day going through rough stones, reconnecting with his trusted network of gem cutters and stone dealers, and discovering what’s new and exciting in the world of coloured gemstones.

The sheer array of stones available is mind-boggling — from incredible natural colours and unusual specimens to rough stones with the potential to become something truly extraordinary.

And then there’s the cutting. Seeing what these master gem cutters are able to reveal from a piece of rough stone is nothing short of amazing.

This is where the journey of a truly unique gemstone begins — long before it becomes part of a piece of bespoke jewellery.

Gemstone of the Week: Spinel

This week, Stelios is talking about Spinel — a gemstone that comes in an incredible range of colours, from vivid reds and pinks to beautiful blues, purples and even black.

And here’s a fun fact: Spinel rates an impressive 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it a durable choice for jewellery. For comparison, a diamond sits at 10, making it the hardest natural mineral.

Often mistaken for ruby in the past, Spinel is now loved in its own right for its incredible colour and sparkle.
