At the centre of this ring is a 3.00ct natural unheated sapphire, custom fantasy cut to bring out the character of the stone. Its yellowish-green colour shifts into warmer, earthy tones as the light and viewing angle change.

In other lighting, we have also seen flashes of blue and occasionally red, subtle colours that the camera doesn't always capture quite as the eye does.

We paired the centre stone with natural Australian teal sapphires, bringing another layer of green and blue to the design.

This is one of the things we love about natural sapphires, sometimes their beauty is found in colours that don't fit neatly into one description.

There is an entire world inside a natural gemstone that we rarely get to see.

Under magnification, this natural sapphire reveals a fascinating network of internal features, with unexpected flashes of blue, violet, green, yellow and orange appearing as the stone interacts with light.

For me, this is one of the most fascinating parts of gemmology. Looking beyond the surface often reveals details we would never know were there.
