The Fantasy And Sci-Fi Association (FASA), is Monash University's Fantasy and Science-Fiction society

The Fantasy and Sci-Fi Association (FASA), is a university society based at Monash University's Clayton Campus. We are primarily a social club of like-minded that enjoys and celebrates any and all fandoms from the fantasy and science-fiction genres. We also include and appreciate comic book universes in all their forms. Throughout the year, we hold various events with themes central to the worlds

of fantasy, science-fiction and comic books. These events include: dinners, trivia nights, camps, and TV & Movie marathons. During university semesters, we hold weekly meetings on a Wednesday, between the hours of 3pm and 4pm. These weekly meetings consist of games, activities, information sessions, discussions, and debates, all centred around various themes, topics and interests from fantasy and science-fiction. Also during the university semesters, we hold bi-weekly movie nights, taking place on even weeks of the semester. The movies that we see are all fantasy, science-fiction, or comic book themed, and the exact movie is voted on and chosen by the members in the week before the screening is due to occur. 🎥 ARRIVAL (2016) Movie Screening👽

The Fantasy and Sci-Fi Association and the Linguistics Society have teamed up to screen a film that combines sci-fi and linguistics!

Synopsis: Louise Banks, a linguistics expert, along with her team, must interpret the language of aliens who have come to Earth in a mysterious spaceship.

📍 LOCATION: Campus Centre Cinema (Ground floor of Campus Centre, near Artichoke & Whitebait and Neptune’s Seafood Catch - look for our banner!)
🕟 TIME: 4:30pm start (doors open 4:15pm)
📆 DATE: Thursday 10th September (Tomorrow!)
🍿 Popcorn, snacks and soft drink provided
‼️ Free entry! No ticket required
❓ Accessibility: Ground floor, no stairs required. Bright lights from the screen in an otherwise dark room. Loud noise, though volume will be adjusted to a level that suits the audience.
🌟 No need to be a member of either club! Bring your friends!

FASA’s Book Club is back in session! Named FOME (Fellowship of Middle Earth) as a homage to FASA’s old name, we read everything from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars comics. We’ll read a book together once we decide on one but you can always come to chat about your other reads as well. Join us every second Monday at 12pm in SURLY (the library on Level 1 of Campus Centre) :)
