A refinish on this little number.
This was the first piece that I made for My beautiful partner Karren, many years ago. It was in the early stages of our relationship.
It’s a HAMSA which is a middle eastern symbol for protection, power & strength.
The eye in the middle set with an emerald represents blessings, fortune & harmony.
The emerald is Karren’s birth stone, all the other gems also have meaning but I might leave those to remain personal.
It’s made from sterling silver, 9k rose gold & 18k yellow gold. It’s fun to mix metals like this.

If you slide you can see it was originally on kangaroo leather and hadn’t been worn for a long time. I decided to give it a clean up and put it on a new silver chain, and now it’s being loved again. 😊

This was a little bit of restoration work that I did recently.
As you can see when you slide to the before images, this one was in pretty poor condition. I have to say it’s an old piece! It was a Vietnam veterans ring handed down to his son. The stones were so loose and the band was cracked. I repaired it all and cleaned it up, it came up very nice for an older piece.

I encourage clients to have your jewels cleaned and checked annually if possible.

As a jeweller I sometimes have the opportunity to work on fun little projects like this one.
This is a sterling silver acupuncture guide tube, handmade for Lewis, who had just completed his studies. His parents bought it as a graduation gift.
It wasn’t overly simple, as the standard drills are too short to drill the metal out. So I searched and found longer drills, which were still too short, so I grabbed the diamond file and painstakingly ground them down to the exact dimensions. It took a while but ended up perfect for the job.
If any other acupuncturists would like one, I now know how to do it. 😊

Wow, what a treat to create this special piece!

This one came together just in time for Christmas, it features 8 beautiful with a white diamond centre stone, set in my classic “Daisy” ring design. I had been sitting on these super rare pinks for 8-10 years and wanted them to go to the right home.
An old friend Narayana, contacted me to come up with an engagement ring design for his lovely partner Angelika. I knew the pinks would take it to a new level.

They were very happy with the final result, and it was such a pleasure to craft this one.

Congratulations to Andy & Taylor who were happily married last year. I am finally beginning to share some of the beautiful pieces I was fortunate enough to create.

A beautiful princess cut solitaire diamond engagement ring, with a classic ladies wedding ring to complement for Taylor.
Andy’s wedding band fashioned in Sterling Silver and finished with an industrial style brushed finish, which is a great option for the guys who aren’t into too much bling.

Congratulations to Fiona & Aylmer.
Such a pleasure to craft this amazing piece for these two.
It all started with a pile of old rings, a few sketches and a discussion. Once we determined the design, I set about taking all the old diamonds out and choosing which ones we would use for the new piece.
It was a fun project that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is also nice to utilise the diamonds that already have their own story and give them a new life.

I recently came across these old photos from the Wagga Daily Advertiser. My Nan had cut them out and kept them all these years.
I began my apprenticeship when I was 17 years old learning my trade under two great tradesmen, Paul Andrea & Michael Nugent. I was very lucky to do an apprenticeship under their guidance, everything was handmade, the only casting I ever saw was at tafe in Sydney. Most of the other guys at tafe were cleaning up castings all day through their entire apprenticeship. After the apprenticeship I moved to the Gold Coast and continued to hone my craft working alongside some incredible jewellers.

One of my latest creations for my special lady
I shared a video a while back and now it’s time to share the final photo.

This ring has so many important facets, it was lovingly made for Karren’s fiftieth birthday and also our ten year anniversary. We spent our anniversary in Sri Lanka and loved the culture, people and sites. I also snuck in a little time to purchase a few beautiful sapphires, as Sri Lankan sapphires are some of the best worldwide. The depth of the Ceylon blue is something you fall in love with. The Padparadscha sapphire is so rare and unique, it’s a salmonish orange colour, and this one looks like a sunrise. Karren personally picked this one herself !

We didn’t realise at the time that Padparadscha means lotus blossom. Which was one of those extra hidden gems for us, as we both practice yoga. Yoga uses the lotus blossom as a reference point, it grows from the mud, or life’s challenges , into a beautiful flower, or a higher state of being.

A little restoration job I did late last year.

The next two slides show the condition it was in, when it came to me. It belonged to my clients grandmother and was in dire need of some work.
The band was way too thin and broken, so I made a whole new band and re- tipped all the outside claws on the diamonds. Then reconnected the head to the new shank with a nice pin for extra strength. It should go for a few more generations now. Restoration can be really rewarding, knowing I have bought a piece back to life and see it go out for a new life. 👏

A showstopper of a ring I crafted many years ago.
This one had it all !
3.13ct centre diamond with argyle pink diamond surround, baguettes and small diamonds down the shoulders.
I can honestly say it was a privilege to be entrusted with this one.
It certainly has all the bells and whistles.
