Sculptural forms designed to be worn.

This first necklace by Melbourne jeweller Jo Hawley is particularly clever, with a reversible pendant that can be worn two ways. Created from pod and half-shell forms, Jo’s necklaces feel like small works of wearable art.

These are just a couple of pieces from her collection. Stay tuned until later in the reel for a glimpse of Jo’s beautiful brooches, featuring the most incredible hand-painted colour, which we’ll share more of in our next post.

NEW WORK from Welfe Bowyer 💫
We are excited to be able to offer these new rings from New Zealand jewellery Welfe Bowyer.

Welfe Bowyer is an acclaimed contemporary jewellery designer based in Mahurangi East, Aotearoa New Zealand, known for creating tactile, architectural and avant-garde pieces.

Originally trained in architecture, he translates construction and physical modelling concepts into fine jewellery, crafting pieces with strong structure, truth in materiality and textures drawn from the natural world.

We really do have new things arriving all the time. Jewellers don’t make to seasons or fashion but have a practice that follows their interests and creative ideas.
As you look at these pieces, appreciate the time and skill that has gone into each tiny detail of an item of jewellery.
How it moves, the texture of the metal, the combination of materials and the way in which the maker has chosen to put it all together.

Sia is known for her delicate, nature-inspired jewellery, and we now have a gorgeous selection in silver. Some pieces are entirely silver, while others feature little touches of gold, a combination we absolutely love.

Well… it’s really just me going on tour. Sorry team. 😬

Nearly 15 years into Studio Melt, and with both my kids now finished school, a plan that’s been bubbling away in the back of my mind for years is finally happening.

Time for a proper break. Time for a hike (mostly so I can justify eating my body weight in pastries 🥐). And time to spend a few weeks wandering galleries, museums, jewellery stores and studios, seeing contemporary jewellery in person.

I’ve only done one dedicated jewellery buying trip before, to New York, and honestly… it completely blew my mind. 🤯 It gave me the chance to meet the makers, ask all the questions and experience the work in person. There’s just no substitute for seeing jewellery with your own eyes.

I’ve also been thinking for a while now that it’s almost criminal we don’t have a single Nordic jeweller in our collection. So… I’m off to see what I can find.

Putting together these images of Paris, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, Stockholm, Helsinki and Tallinn made me stop for a second and realise just how incredibly lucky I am to be able to do this.

I’ve cobbled together an itinerary, but I’d absolutely love your help. If you’ve been to any of these cities, I’d love your recommendations.
