We believe ethical design practice is a necessary responsibility of creating beauty from nature’s gifts. With an in-house workshop and an entirely local production process, we ensure all materials follow a chain of accountability, such as Australian sapphires sourced from small-scale mining operations. All Grew & Co stones are ethically sourced and our diamonds conflict-free.

In many cases, we purchase gemstones direct from the miners themselves, therefore guaranteeing their profits. Careful consideration is also given to the life cycle of the mines. OUR PRODUCTS AND DESIGN

Mali is a full bezel, so the gold wraps the whole edge of the stone and the outline of the stone becomes the outline of the ring. Nothing sits proud, nothing catches.

The pear is 2.10ct, with a single brilliant cut diamond set beside it. The oval is 2.00ct. Both are in the studio now.

Set into the underside of each bezel is a halo of brilliant cut diamonds, facing inward, where only the wearer catches it. Neither ring announces it. That's the point.

The same stone, and then two completely different answers about how much gold goes round it.

A bezel wraps the whole edge of the stone in metal instead of gripping it at the corners. The edge is protected, the profile stays low, and there is nothing to catch on a jumper. That part is true of all four of these.

Mali takes the idea as close to nothing as it will go: a fine rim on a 1.8mm round band, with a halo of brilliant cut diamonds set into the underside where only the wearer sees it. A 2.00ct oval, and a 2.10ct pear.

Rana takes it the other way. The bezel widens, the shoulders swell into a signet, and the stone sits down inside the metal rather than on top of it. A 2.18ct oval, and a 1.53ct pear.

Swipe one to two, then three to four. Same cut both times, and almost nothing else in common.

It changes what you wear beside it, too. Mali sits high enough that a straight band slides underneath and sits flush. Rana sits low, so its band is cut to curve around the shape instead. That's the last photograph.

Before it’s a ring, it’s a shape on a screen.

A Rana begins as a model: the bezel drawn around the stone, the shoulders swelled out into a signet, the whole thing turned over and over until the proportions sit right. Only then does anyone pick up a tool.

The rings at the end are the finished thing. Same idea, different stones, different hands.

One design, and then it’s your call what sits in it.

Aaren is a double rail set east–west: two flat bars running the length of the stone, holding it between them. The setting doesn’t much mind what it holds. A parti sapphire, green turning to gold as the hand moves. A lab grown diamond. A natural one.

Stones come in on approval so you can see the real thing in your hand before you decide, and whatever you don’t choose goes back.

A wide band, and nothing fine about it.

Aaren is a double rail: two flat bars run the length of the stone and hold it between them, corners folded over the top. It's set east–west, so the stone lies across the finger rather than along it, and the ring reads wide rather than tall.

Most people picture something slim next to a solitaire. This is the other way. One wide polished band, and the two of them read as a single object on the hand.
