Hi all,
I have recently updated my 2020 heat-treating recipe book. Well, I've been listening to all your feedback over the past few years, and the #1 question I kept getting was: "This is great, but what about normalising? When do I do it? Which steels?"
So... I went back to the workshop (aka my computer 😂) and completely revised it.
The 2026 edition now includes:
A new cover
Complete heat-treat procedures for every steel.
Stress relief and normalising protocols.
CRITICAL warnings.
All temps in both Celsius and Fahrenheit (for my overseas mates!)
Tons more room for your own notes!
Same proven recipes, now with the complete picture of the entire heat treatment process.
A huge thanks to everyone who reached out with questions and suggestions. You literally shaped what went into this edition. That's what I love about this community! 🙌

This slipjoint folder has been sitting in my local guns and ammo store for some time now. It still hasn't sold, so I am making it available here again.

RWL-34 Slipjoint folder.

- RWL-34 stainless steel at around 61 Rockwell.
- 175 mm overall open, 100 mm closed.
- 75 mm blade length.
- 18 mm blade width.
- 3.5 mm blade thickness.
- 416 Stainless liners and Bolsters.
- JUMA aged ivory substitute handle with Black G10 liners and spacers.
- Hand-stitched leather pouch.

This little hunter has been sitting in my local guns and ammo store for some time now. It still hasn't sold, so I am making it available here again.

Specs
- 01 around 60 Rockwell
- Full flat ground with Distal taper, 1000g hand finish.
- 210mm OA.
- 105mm Handle.
- 105mm Blade.
- 25mm wide blade at the widest point.
- 4mm thick blade.
- Tapered Tang.
- The handle is TAC snow Juma, with Blue G10 liners.
- The leather sheath is hand-dyed and stitched.
- Comes in a storage box.

Hi all,
I have to apologise for being absent for so long. After the nerve thing in my neck and shoulder came back with vengeance, surgery and a bit of burnout on the whole Knifemaking thing, I've been pretty bummed. I'm still unable to make Knives at the moment, as the numbness in my left hand makes it dangerous to run the grinder. But I do hope to get back to it someday, preferably soon!!! I just thought I needed to stop hiding and keep you all updated on where I am at. Thank you to all those who have reached out with an RUOK message during this time; it has been greatly appreciated.

Here is another new design I've been working on.
This one is inspired by the Dewey army knife. This is the first Knife I have done with the new makers mark stickers done by Ben Duncan, it came out good I just need to etch a little longer.

Specs
01 tool steel around 61 Rockwell.
Full flat ground, 600g hand finish.
255mm OA.
125mm Handle.
130mm Blade.
35mm wide blade at the widest point.
4mm thick blade.
Tapered Tang.
The handle is Black and Blue G10 with White G10 pins and Lanyard tube.
The leather sheath is hand-dyed and stitched.

Here are some good photos of a new design I was working on, a spearpoint hunter with a bit of a Persian flavour!

Specs
01 tool steel around 61 Rockwell.
Full flat ground, 600g hand finish.
260mm OA.
125mm Handle.
135mm Blade.
30mm wide blade at the widest point.
4mm thick blade.
Tapered Tang.
The handle is stabilized Messmate Burl, with Red G10 liners and pins. 416Stainless bolsters.
The leather sheath is hand-dyed and stitched.
